Hey all, sorry about missing out on a Snippet Wednesday yesterday, but support in the fight against SOPA and PIPA reigned supreme across the web. Not sure how it will all play out, but we can hope, right?
Films
As you know, Katie and I love movies. Right now, one of the big ones we want to see is the re-release of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Katie loves this film. I've only ever seen it once, and not in theaters. I'm more than willing to see it with her. Of course, there's actually another re-release in the coming months that I want to see. And for this, I'm sure I'm going to have to hand in my mancard. It's the 3D version of Titanic. I really don't care about the lovey-dovey stuff, but I think that the sinking would look really damn cool in 3D. C'mon. Somebody out there has gotta agree with me.
Brickworld
Brickworld is coming back to Chicago! And I'll be damned if I'm going to msis it like I did last year. It's on June 16 and 17 in Wheeling. Anyone going to be in town and want to go with me?
Bam
Listen carefully to this trailer for the upcoming movie Big Miracle. In it, they say that the names of the three trapped whales are Fred, Wilma, and... Bam-Bam. Wait a second here. If they're trying to say that the whales are all family, or part of the same pod, or whatever, shouldn't they have named that third whale Pebbles? After all, Pebbles was the daughter of Fred and Wilma Flintstone. Bam-Bam was Barney and Betty Rubble's son, wasn't he? Am I mentally mixing up my Hanna-Barbera cartoons?
Digital
The other night, I was shopping for a DVD copy of The Help. Aside from the fact that they're completely overpriced ($19.99 on sale with no bonuses), there were three different versions available. One was the DVD only copy, then the Blu-ray and DVD combo, then the Blu-ray and DVD and Digital Copy version. Number three was actually $8 more than number two. They were charging eight extra dollars for a digital file!! I always thought digital copies were a freebie bonus or, at the most, a couple extra dollars. But $8??
Masons
I saw a license plate frame earlier today that read "To be one, ask one" and, at the bottom, it mentioned master and apprentice Masons. I wondered what other professions could benefit from such a license plate frame. Furries? BDSM practitioners? Prostitutes? The possibilities are limitless.
Park
Lithium, the 90s grunge station on Sirius/XM threw me for a loop tonight by playing a song called "Down in the Park" by the Foo Fighters. Down in the whaa??? I've never heard of this song before. Shazam identified it as a bonus track but without specifying which album. I just now found it on Amazon and it says it's part of a special edition of The Colour and the Shape. A 19-track special edition. How did this one escape me? I only have MP3s from the standard edition CD. AHHHH!! I hate when they do this crap.
