What's your name, little girl...
Girl you gotta fly, fly to the angels...

Roll over and die tonight...

There are times when I strongly feel that people should go through training and be licensed before they are allowed to do anything. Usually this is in reference to reproducing and raising children. But I think I might expand that to include running for public office and, well, let's just call a spade a spade here and include speaking at all in public.

Could I be referring to Michelle Bachmann?

There is the remotest of possibilities that I am.

The Worst Thing to Happen to America (™ pending) is at it again. While clearly unhappy to be out of the spotlight due to her failed bid for the Republican Presidential nomination, she has made the most of her time off to formulate a half-assed attack on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's longtime aide Huma Abedin. Apparently Abedin is at least partially responsible for an infiltration of the U.S. Government by Muslim extremists because her late father, mother and brother have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that has been known to associate with terrorist organizations.

I am just at a loss here. Her family has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood? According to the N.Y. Times, the ties only exist in that Abedin's father founded an organization that received support from a group that has historical ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. That's a third-degree association at best. I'm sure if I were to go back through my family history, I could find a third-degree association to the Ku Klux Klan or to somebody who committed murder or, worse yet, someone who is a U.S. politician!!! (GASP!!)

And "historical ties"? Wow. Talk about grasping at straws here. I think Keith Ellison, a Muslim congressman from Minnesota (Bachmann's own homestate) said it best by describing this as a "bizarre game of six degrees of separation." We all have "historical ties" to a variety of people and organizations. Am I responsible for everything bad they did? I would certainly hope not. I have friends and neighbors who are Muslim, should the world worry about me? One of my good friends at work emigrated to the U.S. from Iraq. Do I pose a threat? No! My friend doesn't even pose a threat on his own. Yet, by Bachmann's standards, as evidenced in this claim, clearly we both do.

Even if Bachmann can prove that Abedin's family was directly involved with the Muslim Brotherhood (which she cannot), hasn't she ever heard of the concept of "breaking the cycle"? Be it the cycle of violence, cycle of hate, cycle of intolerance, whatever. Breaking the cycle is one of few ways for people who are directly related to people who have practiced hate, violence, etc., to separate themselves from their past and move forward to a brighter future. If not for this concept, wouldn't all of us still be responsible for the ill actions and intentions of our ancestors? Be they slavery, religious persecution, murder, rape, or any number of other things. God only knows what ills exist in Bachmann's pedigree. Should we hold her personally responsible for all of them? That's basically what she's asking us to do with Ms. Abedin. And without proof that these familial ties include any direct involvement in the group, to boot.

Hasn't Abedin suffered enough? She is, after all, the wife of former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner. Not only is that last name bad enough, but he is the guy that shared pics of his namesake organ via Twitter.

I just cannot believe not only that this is allowed to go on, but that our tax money is being used to pay the salaries and benefits of the morons who perpetrate this sort of bullshit at the Federal level.

Please, I implore of you Minnesotans... RECALL HER! I am at a loss that you would've voted for her in the first place. I'd like to think that maybe she was at least semi-normal at one time and that's how the wool got pulled over your eyes and that you're not a bunch of brainless morons who turned a blind eye to a lunatic running for public office.

And to Michelle Bachmann...

shut up

Somewhere, our forefathers are turning over in their graves and facepalming themselves at what our country has become.
