As difficult as the English language can be to learn and master, its little nuances make it fun. Take, for example, the word "sad." Merriam-Webster lists a few similar, yet distinct, synonyms for the word including "depressing" and "regrettable/deplorable."
Try this on for size... it's sad (depressing) that the White Sox season is over despite being on top of the AL Central for so much of the season, whereas it's sad (regrettable/deplorable) that the Cubs ended the season with 101 losses in a 162-game season.

I'm not sure what prompted it, but I found myself going on a Sylvester Stallone movie kick from the library this week. I picked up Demolition Man and Judge Dredd and I can't wait to watch them. Any more I should add to the list?

93XRT FM is celebrating their 40th anniversary with "40 Years in 40 Days," in which they highlight a different year during that time span each day. Today was 1974, the year I was born. I would just like to say that the music that year, at least the music that XRT would play, sucks. Just. Plain. Sucks.

I think Katie and I are in a bit of shock that today is Nathan's three-week birthday. WOW! Hard to believe. But so glad he's here. We're actually having trouble remembering what life was like before him. That's not strange, is it?
