Wait... what's that? You think that's more of a trick than a treat?
I'm sorry, but it's about all I can afford right now. If you feel you must egg my blog in retaliation, do your dirtiest! I need a little more protein in my diet.
Luca$$
I know a bunch of you are probably wondering how I feel about the whole acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney thing and the confirmation that there will be a new Star Wars trilogy that postdates the original three movies starting in 2015. Well, I have nothing much to say yet. Still formulating a post in my head that I may try to finish for tomorrow. No, it's no more coincidence that my post may go live on the Day of the Dead than it is that this acquisition occurred on Devil's Night.
While you await my post, I'll leave you with this, bequeathed unto me by a coworker...
That's all I'm going to say until tomorrow.
Nick
Do any of you watch The New Girl? Did you watch this week's Halloween episode? If you didn't but plan to, skip the rest of this Snippet. If you have seen it, how funny was the scene with Nick getting his ass kicked by a mummy and Frankenstein's monster in the haunted house? I couldn't stop laughing. I hurt afterwards.
Lined
I took this photo yesterday and, for some reason completely unknown to me, I love how it turned out. Just a simple shot of powerlines with a cloudy sky in the background in a grainy black-and-white wash.
Fire
Katie and I really didn't want to like Chicago Fire at all. No, I don't mean the soccer team; I'm talking about the new firefighter drama on NBC. We only gave it a shot because it's Chicago and it really does show a lot of the city because a big chunk of it is actually filmed here unlike other shows (ahem, ER) that are "Chicago" only in concept. But we've watched the first handful of episodes and really, really like it... besides it being in Chicago, we like the storylines, actors, the whole shebang. This, of course, means NBC will cancel it. Please don't let that happen.
If you're not watching, catch up online and then tune in as soon as possible to pump up the ratings. After dropping in the ratings from the debut to episode two, the third episode really ramped up a bit to near debut-episode levels. That's good! Let's make it better.
Oh, if what I've said hasn't motivated you enough to tune in, Sarah Shahi of Fairly Legal is joining for a multi-episode arc! Woo! She is awesome. Yeah, that got your siren sounding, didn't it?
Staring
Every so often, Katie and I catch Nathan staring off into nothing. Not just glancing around like so many other babies do. He will occasionally fix his gaze on what seems like nothing (wall, ceiling, etc.) and just eyeball it until the cows come home. Knowing that children are supposed to be much more spiritually attuned to the world than adults and knowing that we believe our house is haunted, we keep wondering if he's seeing ghosts around him. That would be weird.
Speaking of Nathan and Halloween and all that jazz, how cute is this little booger?
Well, have a great Halloween and don't forget to check your candy for razorblades before gorging on it. It will really hurt on the way out if you don't.
