Happy New Year, everyone! I hope it's all going okay for you so far. I know it's too early to really tell for sure, but I hope you've at least gotten a good start going.
Welcome to my first post of the year. A day late, I know. But I was really enjoying looking at the post calendar in the right column and seeing it completely full. I wasn't ready to give that up. But, time marches on, so welcome to the first Snippet Wednesday of 2013!
Titles
Did you happen to notice the generic title to this post? I know that using song lyrics and titles as my post title is kinda my thing here at kapgar.com. However, sometimes coming up with an appropriate one that I (hope I) haven't already used proves to be more stressful and time consuming than actually writing a post. So, after seven and a half years, I'm stopping. No more songs in the titles. I hope you're not too heartbroken. I just need to make a change in that regard.
Work
The thing that amazes me about returning to work is just how quickly I fell "back in the fold." While I was able to effectively forget about work for those seven weeks of leave, I get back and it feels like I haven't been gone at all. I'm recalling meetings with people with word-for-word clarity from months ago and it's kinda scary.
Comic
Since I'm now done with all the available volumes of The Walking Dead (covering through issue 102), I'm dying as I wait six months for enough new issues to be collected to compile a new volume. However, a couple months ago, I did buy a variant cover of issue 103 (cartoon-y recreation of the original issue 1 cover done by Chris Giarusso). I keep it on display at work in a bag and board because it's cool. Well, today I caved and opened it and read it because I needs my zombie fix! Good issue. But it was so weird, after a year of reading digital comics only, to actually have a physical comic book in hand. Very strange indeed.
Bizarro
Speaking of The Walking Dead (yes, I obsess about it... sorry), I was having a little fun and mixed the parts on a couple of LEGO minifigures and wound up with a new source of fear for Rick and his band of zombie hunters... ZOMBIE SUPERMAN! Actually, it's pretty close to being my own little Bizarro Superman, but I'm going with the idea of him being a bulletproof zombie that can leap tall buildings in a single lumbering bound.
Huskies
I really did think that my NIU Huskies had a chance to win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl yesterday. And then the game started and FSU basically owned them save for a few shining moments. It was painful and sad and I'd really rather not think about it anymore.
