We just got back from our vacation (more on that later) and we wanted to take our rental car back to Hertz. We technically have the car until tomorrow so we'd be returning it right on time.
However, it turns out, Hertz's hours at this location are only 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nathan's swim class is at 9:30 a.m. about 40 minutes in the opposite direction and that's followed by a party my parents are hosting. We'd never be able to get there at open and get to his class or make it back before they close.
And they're closed Sunday.
I called Hertz for options and they said I could leave the car after hours and just lock the keys in the glove box. But I'd have to pay a lockout fee of $86.04.
My other option is to drop it off at another location. The customer service rep couldn't quote me a price, though. It's between me and the counter jockey and I wouldn't know until I drop it off.
It's cheaper for me to keep the rental car for two extra days. How messed up is that?
Theres gotta be a more logical way to deal with these situations. I can't be the first.
