Thor...

I admit I really liked the first Thor movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A lot of fun. I also must admit that I have not seen the second one. I'm not sure why, I just didn't.

When Thor: Ragnarok was announced a while ago, I was hit or miss on it.

The scenes in the first movie set on Asgard were some of my least favorite of the film. And Ragnarok is taking place entirely in this otherworldly setting, but not even entirely Asgard. Maybe it's just because I'm only a borderline sci-fi fan, not a junkie like many of my friends. I liked Thor on Earth in the first movie. That was way cool! But this? Ummm...

Then came the teaser trailer...

I admit that the cheekiness of it all and the 70s/80s vibe really caught my attention. I also must admit that I had fears that all the cool stuff that turned me on might just have been in the teaser only and wouldn't actually be applicable to the film as a whole.

Then came the first official trailer...

Holy crap! I think it's for real! This is starting to look like a pseudo-Flash Gordon adventure (albeit with better effects) and... I wanna see it! I mean REALLY want to see it! And, c'mon, Karl Urban!!

But I think I should re-watch the original and finally see the second film before this happens. Just 'cause, yanno, timelines and whatnot. I hear they're kinda important.

In the meantime, you can watch this cool little video about why Thor wasn't part of Iron Man and Captain America's Civil War...
