I’ve been reading a bunch of articles about how we need to stop assuming our personal information is safe because, no matter what, hacks will happen. You can have the best software protection, firewalls, passwords, whatever... they will happen.
What we need to do is ensure that we have a solid plan in place for after the hack occurs.
This made me start thinking about mass shootings and how they’ve increased at a fever pitch and, no matter how many times people theorize that legislation and background checks and security increases will solve the problem, the fact is they won’t.
If people want guns, they can get them.
If people want to create violence, they will.
It’s terrible admitting this but our world is full of sick bastards. And no amount of legislation or psychiatric evaluation or education or... anything will change that fact.
What we need is a solid plan to handle things during and after it happens.
Identifying regular entrances, emergency exits, and safer areas to take cover when you go some place public.
Being certified in first aid, CPR, and AED use
Learning sympathy, empathy, and love for our friends, family, and even those you don’t even know.
What am I missing?
I hate that this is what we’ve come to as a society. I hate it, but it’s true.
