Today was Nathan’s sixth birthday party and what we hope will be the last time we hold it a month in advance of his actual birthday.
If you recall, we do this so early because Nathan likes pool parties and our community pool will close for the season on Labor Day weekend. So it’s impossible after that time, and really boneheaded to try on the actual weekend it closes. So one week in advance is the only real option
What makes this year different than previous birthdays is that this is the first time we invited school friends to attend in addition to family.
[That’s Nathan's buddy Sam’s head on the far right photobombing the cousin shot]
Three of the invited 13 classmates showed up, despite six RSVPing. And we’re pretty sure that number will only increase in subsequent years which kinda prices the pool out of consideration.
Anyway, I digress.
This was another superhero-themed party complete with pull-string piñata adorned with superhero masks made by Katie.
Nathan loved it. It was a lot of fun. And, most importantly, it’s over. That’s the best part. Over.
Now we’re at home. Nathan’s asleep. Katie and I are playing UNO with Avengers: Age of Ultron on in the background. This movie is still painfully boring but I’m going to try to power through. Admittedly it is cool seeing Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) in here now that I understand his character better from Black Panther.
