Oldies: August 30, 2000...

I had some fun today. My dad and I went to the gun club this morning and we did some shotgun and pistol shooting. We also did some bow shooting at targets. Afterwards, I got together with my friends Brian, Jay, and John and we played baseball for three hours. God, I suck. At least I was able to make contact but I didn't hit a single homerun. C'est la vie. It was fun though and probably the most time I've spent outside in a long time.

You wanna talk about some kind of crap. I was told a few weeks ago that my job as web editor would no longer exist as it did when I was hired. Today, I was told that there is no other position for me even though they were gonna try to find something for me. So, I resigned. Really sucked. I didn't want to do it but what choice did I really have? Guess I'm gonna be hitting those classified ads again. Damn.

Katie and I had a great weekend. We spent Saturday at Mary Ellen's pig roast and had a lot of fun. On our way there, we realized we forgot the wine that we had bought for her as a gift. So we stopped at an Eagle grocery in Bloomingdale and found that they had about seven bottles of our favorite wine. The same wine we want to use at our wedding. The same wine that Sutter Home told us was discontinued. So, of course, we checked every Eagle we could find and ended up with 69 total bottles of the wine. Cool, eh? We thought so.

Oh, I just love United Airlines. Lemme tell ya. On Tuesday, our original flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on a flight that was already pushed back over two hours. When we were coming in for a landing at Laguardia Airport, we pulled back up just before touchdown. Our pilot told us that there was another plane on our runway staring right back at us. Sucks, eh? Today, coming home, my flight was over five hours late. What the hell is that? I'll try to avoid them in the future.

Today is a sad day. Sir Alec Guinness died. In case you don't know who I'm talking about (how couldn't you?)... he was the Oscar winning star of Bridge on the River Kwai and he was Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars. That movie alone immortalizes him in my mind. He will be missed. May the Force be with you, Alec.

Katie and I saw the coolest movie today. We went out to see Coyote Ugly and damn if it didn't rock! Yeah, I know what you're thinking... it's just shy of being a softcore porn flick judging by the women and the outfits. Is that what you're thinking? Wrong!! After a while, you forget about the outfit and realize that there is actually a plot to it. Wow, imagine that! A movie about "beautiful people" that actually has somewhat of a plot. It also had some great dancing and singing and great jokes. Plus, it has John Goodman. Need I say more? Go See It!

Wow, talk about being a bit behind in updates, eh? I haven't done anything to this page since July 9th. My bad, I've just been busy as hell at work. Let me tell you, when you sit in front of a computer all day, the last thing you wanna do is see one when you get home. Well, when I looked at my website to-do list, I realized I needed to get cracking. I had to enter about six movies, four books, and do something to this diary or lose all two of you who may or may not actually read this (I'm being optimistic by saying "two"... makes me feel better). Now that I'm starting to get used to the routine at work, things should get a bit better. Plus, I'll be getting my new computer at work any day now (I've been deluding myself by saying that for the last month) which will have a ZIP drive meaning that I can update my page while I'm on my lunch break. My computer now only has a floppy drive and I don't have one at home so transferring the files for this page have been a bit on the difficult side. Well, I'm heading to bed. Night.
