Every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man...

For some time now, I've been debating the prospect of creating a line of kapgar-themed products. I'm thinking about T-shirts, mugs, mousepads, magnets, spinner rims, action figures, power tools... just a few of the more commonplace items.

Of course, the standard for doing this sort of thing would be to use Cafepress. But I was never too big on that site. All the stuff winds up looking the same regardless of the unique logo that may be on it.

However, SJ referred me to Zazzle some time ago, which is the site that she is using to set up a Chronic Listaholic/Write Coast store. And, SJ, I'm still waiting for your stuff to go live. You owe me a shirt from GBBMC.

With my old design, I could not possibly see selling T-shirts. My design and logo were just too damn boring. Seriously, who the hell would want a yo-yo with my name in Harry Potter fontface? However, with my new design, I think it could be feasible. I just need to get off my lazy ass.

So, during a down moment in my class the other night, I visited Zazzle and dropped my logo in a quickie black T-shirt setup. Here was the result...

Clearly it's not done. I may play around a bit more. Upload a cleaner, higher-res logo. Figure out some accompanying text (maybe). Try other color shirts. Stuff like that. I may also make up some of those Co-ed Naked Blogging shirts that Johnny and I were fooling around with. Or maybe the To Wong Foo image with Karl and Jacquie.

So what do you all think?

Well, if nothing else, I may just create one for myself and wear it around town. At $19.99, it's not bad.

But Zazzle won't let me make my own line of action figures. Damn. Time to E-mail customer service.

Hypothetically speaking, of course, should you ever spill red wine -- say, perhaps, a Robert Mondavi Merlot -- on light-colored carpeting, cover it with table salt immediately. Do not bother mopping it up with a rag or paper towels. Just...

I think that would be so awesome!! I would buy one! I have thought about doing that same thing, just never could come up with a good graphic for it.

Dustin

What!?!?! No action figures?!?! I want a "Kevin blogging in his underwear" figurine complete with an old school lap top accersory.

T-shirt looks sweet. Only $19.99 a pop 'eh? Not bad.

Bec

I love the idea - yes more t-shirts... that's what my wardrobe needs! :)

SJ

Swear to God, I haven't forgotten your shirt! I just honestly haven't had the money to get it yet. BUT I WILL, I promise!

I think the accompanying text should be song lyrics, like you use for your blogpost titles. You might have to hunt for something meaningful that's now Public Domain to avoid copyright issues, but if you can find the right something, it'd be great!

OR take some lyrics and put your own twist on them to make them appropriate. I.e., "the morning blog may fill the air ..." Something like that.

And I just added the Zazzle store to my Weekend To-Do List.

Don't get so busy staring at your reflection that you forget about Echo there Narcissus.

;)

Seriously though, cool shirt.

kilax

Are you going to give them away like Dave did? ;)

ms. sizzle

sweet! self-promotion- way to go. woo woo! :) too bad about the action figures. could there be one of you in your underwear blogging? hee hee.

claire

Cool. Is it the same kind of deal as cafepress? Let me know how it goes.

Neil

You do realize that when we wear it with that image that people will think "Kapgar" is the name of a mosquito repellent brand?

Dagny

I think the Wong Foo image definitely needs to be on a t-shirt.

kapgar

Debbie, thanks for the vote of confidence. I think your three dolls header would work. Is that a creation of yours or is it copyrighted by someone else?

Dustin, and typically there are some shirts offered that might cost even less. I'm thinking prices may even go down if I open up a storefront as opposed to just a one-off order which that $19.99 represents. And wouldn't a Boxer Blogger Kapgar action figure just rock?

Bec, don't all our wardrobes need more T-shirts? ;-)

SJ, I've been thinking about sayings and the like as well. I've got one possibility that I used on my old static HTML site. May have to see how it'll look.

BA, pllllbbbttttttttt!!!

Kilax, ummmm... May have to see if any sell first. No promises on freebies. ;-)

Sizzle, you asking about an underwear clad action figure version of me is far less creepy than Dustin making the same request.

Claire, not sure. It's a make-on-demand situation like Cafepress. They keep the logo and just print as needed. But they have a better selection of actual shirt varieties, which I really like. I'm just not sure what total charges would be.

Neil, a variation of that might make a good line of text for the shirt... "kapgar... repelling legitimate blogging since 2005."

Dagny, I like it too, but would have to check with Karl and Jacquie and get their blessings first.

Jacquie

I would definitely place an order for the too wong foo shirts. Those were brilliant!

kapgar

You only like them because you were Wesley Snipes. And you dig being Blade in drag. Although, I guess for you, it's not really "drag" since you're already a female. Hmmm...

Karl

Awesome. All the cool kids are making t-shirts nowadays. I'm still working on mine, too.

kapgar

I can't wait to see what yours looks like. I'm really looking forward to it.
