We can start a company and make misery...

My sinuses won't drain.

Therefore, my nose is plugged up.

Therefore, I can't properly breathe.

Therefore, my voice is rather raspy and a bit higher pitched than normal.

Yet, somehow, I manage to find a positive amidst all this feeling-bad crap... I can sing Soul Asylum songs and sound exactly like Dave Pirner!

The silver lining on this grey cloud just gets brighter and brighter, doesn't it?

Oh, and I know this meme is like a week old, but I've got one for you in the extended post.

Oh yeah, I stole this from Blogography and Sparktacular and who knows where else.

  1. Elaborate on your default icon.
I tend to use a Kermit avatar when commenting on blogs and a stylized black & white shot of myself using an iSight camera at an Apple Store over on Flickr if that's what this question is referring to. I think it may need to be reworded.
  2. What’s your current relationship status?
Quite happily married, thank you very much.
  3. Ever have a near-death experience?
Flipped a car at 17... does that count?
  4. Name an obvious quality you have.
    Writing ability? That's arguable.
  5. What’s the name of the song that’s stuck in your head right now?
Soul Asylum "We 3." Can't figure out why considering what I wrote above.
  6. Name a celebrity you would marry.
    Kate Winslet.
  7. Who will cut and paste this meme first?
I'm really not sure as this one's been out a few days already and I've lost track of everyone who has completed it. Maybe Allison will e-mail me her answers like she normally does.
  8. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?
At one point in time, I was told I looked like Eric "Mancow" Muller, the shock jock. Then I started losing my hair. Needless to say, he still has his.
  9. Do you wear a watch? What kind?
A Fossil Blue AM-3691 that Katie bought me a couple years ago.
  10. Do you have anything pierced?
Legitimate piercings, no. Places where varied foreign objects have wound up creating holes in my body, yes.
  11. Do you have any tattoos?
Yes, the Eye of Horus on my right ankle.
  12. Do you like pain?
Does it ultimately result in pleasure?
  13. Do you like to shop?
Not my first choice of leisure activities.
  14. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?
A soda at a training seminar yesterday. Only a quarter!
  15. What was the last thing you paid for with your credit card?
Soup, sandwich, and drink at Einstein Bros Bagels a couple days ago for lunch.
  16. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone?
Katie. That's pretty much a default answer.
  17. What is on your desktop background?
Default Mac OS X background. I haven't changed to any of my photos on this computer for whatever reason.
  18. What is the background on your cell phone?
A funky picture of colored lights that look like polka dots that I saw at a tuxedo shop.
  19. What was the last movie you watched?
On DVD, Little Miss Sunshine; in theaters, Night at the Museum.
  20. What was the last book you read?
Finished, Ghost World by Daniel Clowes; currently, The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy.

Johnny thinks I've blogged too much about television so far this year. At the heart of his claim is his belief that I watch too much television. In fact, he has developed a rather extensive post in support of this...

I'm in mourning. I weep for an old friend I lost on Monday. That friend being my favorite plastic bowl. Yeah, yeah, big lead up, heckuva let down, right? Well, I weep all the same if that's okay with you....

Jacquie

I cut and paste this to my blog for a rainy day.

Thanks for providing a link to the shock jock. I can see it.

August

I love your Kirmy icon and I totally dig your b&w avatar as well! Get well soon Kappers!

suze

Feel better soon!

Dagny

I am with you on the sinus thing. Mine feel like they may have finally drained so maybe I'll be less cranky.

Also, I might be tempted to cut and paste this meme but I don't think I'll be the first.

Eve

Into the abyss I'll fall, the eye of Horus ..." Nice. I hope Count Olaf hasn't ruined the tat for you, lol.

diane

Ahhhhh! Your tattoo ROCKS! Had I know about this earlier, I would have demanded to see it. If I didn't already have a sun/moon earth/water theme going on, I wanted to get something with Horus because...well, my dad's side of the family is descended from Falconers. Freakin' sweet, dude!

Rick

You sound fine to me...

ms. sizzle

i am completely enamored with kate winslet. sincerely. i adore her.

kapgar

Jacquie, this is one of the better photos of him in which to see the resemblance. I'm glad it's so good. Otherwise, you can't see any similarity whatsoever.

August, I really dug how that B&W av came out as well. Really happy with the photo. And how can anyone not love Kermie? He rocks!

Suze, thanks.

Dagny, hope you feel better, too. And steal away.

Eve, would that be as in Lemony Snicket? Nope, he ruined nothing. Didn't care for the movie much so I remember nothing that would bug me. Save for his nose. Freaky stuff there.

Diane, and a good choice it would've been. Mine's just a simple tat of the udjit (eye). Nothing else to really make it pop at all. Just a simple black and white. I want another, too, I just don't know what.

Rick, I'm sure I do. Smart aleck. ;-)

Sizzle, and for good reason.

Brandon

I had forgotten about Soul Asylum until recently. I have owned that album for years and never listened to it. Now I love it. BTW-I plan on doing this meme tonight. Hope you feel better!

SJ

I'm sick too. Hope we all feel better soon.

I like this meme, and will be doing it tomorrow. My favorite answer of yours: #12.

francesdanger

I agree with SJ, love answer 12.

Also, you so have my undying respect. As a fellow ankle tattoo 'haver' I know how much it kills. Most painful one I ever got. You got through the pain and ended with that cool tat? You rock.

kapgar

Brandon, have fun with the meme. Soul Asylum was a favorite of mine for years. I had several of their albums. Now I only own their greatest hits and Grave Dancers Union. Both great. The only problem is that there is no place to get the song "We 3." It never came out on any SA album. It was written by SA for the Chasing Amy soundtrack (Kevin Smith is an avowed Soul Asylum fan), which never had an official album. I got lucky and found a copy on Napster years ago. I don't feel guilty about it and it's not illegal as it was never released for retail. If you enjoy the hunt, maybe you can track one down somewhere out there. Or just let me know. It's a great song.

SJ, can sickness be contracted via the Web? It seems everyone I know is sick. Yeah, I hate answering a question with a question, but oh so appropriate. Steal away.

frances, hindsight being 20/20 as it always is, there is no way in the name of all that's holy that I ever would have an ankle tatted again. But, yes, it is a great tattoo mainly in its simplicity. But it's also 11 years old and has not lost any of its pigmentation at all. Still as black as the day I got it.

Nat

THe Eye of Horus AND he uses a mac... I knew there was a reason I liked you...

kapgar

Don't forget our shared love of Pearl Jam!

JS

in response to the statement by francesdanger that 'we 3' was never released...false. it was released on "and the horse they rode in on". just FYI.

kapgar

Actually, that comment was from me. I was under the impression it had never been released. Thank you for setting me straight on that one.
