Men In Thongs!

Now that I have your attention, welcome to Kapgar's Guest Post Extravaganza starring none other than myself, Sizzle, Dustin, Karl, Sandra and Dave!  When I had originally heard that I was going to be the first one to guest post, I immediately got all excited.  "Wow", I thought, "this will be just like being the lead-in for a comedy tour or something swank like that!".  Needless to say, after some time passed (about five minutes), I realized what being first really means.  Yeah, now all the pressure is on me to set the tone as well as to have a kick-ass post that keeps people coming back and wanting more.  Le sigh, indeed!

Anyway, hi my name is Hilly!  I'd actually had an idea for my own blog last week but failed to post it for some odd reason or another (like it going in one brain cell and out of the other).  Thankfully, I thought of it just as I was about to give up hope of doing my friend Kevin any justice.  And I think it's apropos of everything considering that Kevin is a blogger and has a ding-a-ling to boot!

Yes, I did just talk about Kevvy Kev's "ding-a-ling"...it's not that unexpected, is it?

Anyway, let's talk about "The Boys of Blogging".  While I realize that all of the male bloggy buddies I have are actually men, the term "boy" goes so much better with the word "blog" so that's that!  I've had random thoughts about The Boys of Blogging for some time now and I thought I would share them with all of you:

1. Blog Boys are Loyal: In my many years of blogging through different mediums, many people have come and gone.  Since I started Snackie's World back in 2002, I've seen countless girlfriends come and go like it's nothing.  One month we're super tight like that, sharing secrets and emailing every day then suddenly they're splitsville.  They leave no word, no warning, nada.  Now, I'm not saying that every woman blogger is like this at all.  However I do have to say that NONE of the Blog Boys have deserted me - not ONE.  The male population of my blogroll has been the same forever, with the exception of a few new additions.  In fact, I've known Karl for over six years now!   I have no idea what it is about the male constituency but I am very impressed at their loyalty and am always thankful to have them in my life to one degree or another.

2. Cult of Personality:  I don't know one male blogger that actually bores me.  Most of them are ripe with piss and vinegar, truth be told.  I don't care if he is more the heart-pouring tenderloin or the man who stays behind the iron mask, he still is always interesting.  I think the "comment interactions" on a lot of their sites are also what really makes the fun happen.  Some days I sit back reading the cajoling between dudes and smile, then laugh when all of the girlies flirt relentlessly with their stud of choice.  So again, I have nothing but love for men who can make the magic happen daily.

3. Blog Boys and Their Betties: Most Blog Boys have a huge female following.  In fact, it boggles my mind how the hell that happens (okay not really but I like to feign wonderment at times).  They've got girls who are their "buddies", girls who who they totally flirt with and others who would probably strip naked and pole dance if only they'd ask.  Let's face it....Blog Boys have a stable of Betties in all shapes and sizes (not that there is anything wrong with that!).  But here's something new that I've been noticing....Blog Boys and THE Betty.  It seems like a lot of the more popular male bloggers have one chick that would be their fruit fly or fag hag were they gay.  It's their "main diva", so to speak.  Again, don't get me wrong....they love all of their readers and treat them as equals but there is that one special chick who just shines in the limelight of their linkage and that is just the way it goes.  If you don't believe me, take some time to check it out then get back to me.

4. R-E-S-P-E-C-T:  While this is not true of all male bloggers out there, it is true to my crew of Blog Boys.  Given all of the things mentioned above, they have the utmost respect for their female friends.  They may flirt relentlessly however if either they or you are married, it stops there.  There is no way in hell that any of them would do anything that would be disrespectful to not only those that they love, but also their hot Betty of choice.  I find that I surround myself with the most amazing guys who are there for me at a moments notice and treat me with kindness and love.  Even at my weakest, they'd not take advantage of me and I take comfort in that fact.

So there you have it!  And out of respect, I did a whole post sans cussing!  Can you believe it? Dave even tried to trip me up by offering up the word "fuck-stick" but I didn't buy into it.  Oh crap, I just said "f-stick"....does that mean my kudos go buhbye now?  Ah well....

In any case, since Kevin is one of my very favorite Blog Boys, I thought that this blog was a perfect place to pay homage to the men we all know and love so much....The Boys of Blogging.

TRA -  Totally RELATED Aside:  If you are only here because you followed the link on my blog, please come back next week when Kevvy Kev is back in da house.  He's all kinds of awesome and I puffy heart him to death!

Crazy For Kapgar Kisses,
Hilly (aka Snackiepoo)

Excellent post, Hilly! Kevin will be pleased. Especially because you included a TRA (not quite a TUA, but you gotta be you).

That's why guys blog... for the pole-dancing strippers! Now that you've discovered our secret, I hope you don't think any less of us as a species...

diane

So true, so true. And people wonder why I'm not going to BlogHer! ;)
Great guest post, Hilly!

sizzle

"let's hear it for the boy! let's give the boy a haaaaaand!"

that came to mind while reading the post. that and "cult of personality" are dueling in my head.

great start to a guest bloggerrific week! now i have to come up with something not lame, aaack!

Bre

Ha! Truly delightful, Hilly!

I was emailing with another (female) blogger last week and she was bemoaning the lack of single (male) bloggers available for her to flirt with and have a mad passionate love affair with via the internet. Seemed strange to me until I looked around and realized that most of the male bloggers I read are in relationships!

Laurel

What a wonderfully spot-on post. Even taking a detour to get to you from Main Street in SnackieVille, you still rock. I have yet to amass a collection of BBs to my blog, but I look forward one day to seeing if these guidelines do indeed apply. Gotta run - time for my pole-dancing class...

Bec

I started off by reading all 'Boy" blogs and started to balance out all the honey's with some 'Girl' blogs.

The men they are all so yummy... can't understand why the single ones are single!

Hilly over here... it's like all the joy!

August

That was such a great post Hilly!!! I knew when I read the subject line, that I was not in Kapgar land today.

I love Kappy too!!! Alll hail the kap!

SJ

Hmmm. I think it must depend on your personality. I've had exactly the opposite experience in regard to loyalty. My core readership used to be about equally split male-female and I had a few male readers I felt a particular rapport with. I haven't seen any of the guys around much in months, but my bloggirls keep hangin' in there, no matter how erratic I get.

Karl

For the record, I'm totally single and available. You know, if you're looking to refer hotties my way, Bre. I totally respect women, just like Hilly said. I respect them especially when they're naked on my bed.

Hilly

Stacey: Thanks! I wanted to keep the Kevin "flair" with a bit of Hilly mixed in :)

Dave: I like your species just fine :).

Diane: LOL, yeah like I told you before....I am still waiting for a BlogHim!

Sizzle: I actually was singing that song all day yesterday after I wrote my post..."let's hear it for my baby".

Bre: Wow, I never run out of a supply of flirty men! However there are only one or two that are single, come to think of it.

Laurel: Thanks for taking the detour and can I join you in your class?

Bec: I think you and I are the type of girls who always had more male friends...am I right?

August: LOL, I feel sorry for Kevin's searches after this week of craziness!

SJ: Well hrm, way to blow my theory out of the water ;).

Karl: Why did I know that YOU would be the first one to use the word "naked"?

Elaine

This was a great post and everything you said is so true!!!

Patty

Good post Hilly! I guess I do visit a few guys sites but mostly the chicks! But I am expanding my horizons with checking out Karl and Dave's site and now Kapgar's. Hope you're having a good week!

Bec

You're always right Hilly, it was always about the boys... but then being in the friend zone... not always a good thing!

Foo

BlogHim, I'm totally there. OMG Hilly, did you see his....great post?

Mrs Mogul

In life I get along with boys and blogland that too. However the bloggers that are boys I know are all married. Not too many singles.

shari

Um... so where are the thongs?

Hilly

Elaine: Thank you! I hope you are well, btw.

Patty: You've made some excellent choices!

Bec: Yeah, I used to be that way too until I put my foot down ;).

Foo: Bwahahaha....his "post" is so long!

Mrs. Mogul: I think most of my male blog friends are married too, sans a couple of them.

Shari: Maybe if *you* ask Dave, he'll do a whole Full-Montyesque Blog Boys in Thongs toon ;).

nicole

I often wonder... would I get more comments on my site if I pretended to be a dude? Or maybe make up some relationship drama? Hmmmm....

Geeky Tai-Tai

Great post, Hilly. I love "The Boys of Blogging". Oh, and "fuck-stick" is one of my hubby's favorites (heh).

Dustin

Suddenly the words "I'm, too sexy for my blog, too sexy for my blog,..." won't stop repeating in my head.

You really shouldn't feed the blog boy's egos, they're already at critical mass. =)

shari

So, Dave? How 'bout it? And Dustin, you too?? And Kevin, since it's technically your site here. C'mon... we could make a Blog Boys calendar or something, solve everyone's gift-giving dilemmas in time for the holidays. :)

Hilly

Nicole: I think having a penis automatically guarantees you at least 20 comments ;).

Tai-Tai: Yay! I can't take credit for the fuck stick but I like it too!

Dustin: This was really only about you. Didn't you know? ;)

Shari: Now are you sure that you really want that calendar? Be totally sure before they strip down....

tori

What is interesting is that I started by reading all women/mommy bloggers. Then one of the women asked if any of us were reading any "daddy" blogs, at which point I decided to check them out and then found all kinds of cool guys to read/know.

I love your perspective on all of this.

Jeff

Thanks for nice shout-out for the boys. I've found in general that bloggers are pretty cool people. You included.

sue

Oh, all so true! Great post, Hilly...

Brandon Sparks

Having a penis guarantees you 20 comments? I just checked my shorts and hey, what do you know, there's a penis! What exactly am I doing wrong?

Jeez, all this post did was make me feel bad. Am I the only guy blogger that doesn't have a big female following? I even have a somewhat feminist blog name...what gives?

Oh yeah, I just remembered, I'm not a very good blogger both on my own blog and on others. That'll do it.

g-man

Nice observations Hilly. I think you touched upon something there. I hope Kevin doesn't blush easily. :)

Hilly

Tori: Is it odd that I will read a Daddyblogger before a Mommyblogger? All of my female friends with kids are more "moms who blog" if that makes sense?

Jeff: Awww, thanks :)

Sue: Thank you very much...and it IS true; they are awesome men.

Brandon: LOL, you were included in MY mind. Maybe the women are too shy to comment on your site!

g-man: I think he might blush but at the same time, I think he'll like it!

kapgar

We are oddly loyal, aren't we? And you are absolutely right, 80% of my regular readers/commenters do tend to be female. I don't even get it. But I won't complain in the slightest! ;-)

BTW, I FINALLY FINISHED READING ALL MY GUEST BLOGGER POSTS!!! YAY ME!!!!!!

You did a fantastic job in your leadoff, BTW.
