To be real orange...
Hey all. Welcome to a much cooler temperature'd Snippet Wednesday. Enjoy it while you can!
I'm truly saddened by the violence in Norway this past week. Katie even moreso since she's of Norwegian stock. But I want any Norwegian readers to know that you can pull through this. It won't be easy and there will be a long healing period. But stay strong and you'll be the better for it. And do not let this idiot shooter and his non-inclusionary beliefs deter you from the equality that your country strives for.
Clockwork
I go to a lot of book signings, but it's rare that I go to anything involving a TV or movie star. Just never do. Maybe I feel that these events would be far too much of a madhouse for me to want to attend. However, Hollywood Palms Theater in Naperville is having an event in August that I just cannot pass up... A one-night-only big-screen showing of my favorite Stanley Kubrick film of all time A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. And the event will be attended by Alex himself, Malcolm McDowell (many of you may currently know him as Stanton Enfield on TNT's Franklin & Bash). Oh, I am DYING to meet Malcolm. This is gonna be cool!
Blanket
This past weekend was the baby shower for my brother and sister-in-law. Oh, have I not mentioned that they're expecting their first child in September? Well, she is anyway. He's just sitting around twiddling his thumbs. But they're having a kid. Woo! And Katie made them the most incredible blanket as a shower gift. She knitted this bad boy over the course of three weeks. With very thin yarn that kept getting tangled up and causing all kinds of hell. But it's done and it's beautiful and I'm proud of Katie for sticking it out through the creation process. She did the math and there is somewhere north of 100,000 individual stitches in this beast. Yowza!
Greasy
A theater up in McHenry, where Katie comes from, is hosting throwback movie nights late this summer and into the fall. Of all the movies being shown, the only one I haven't seen properly is Grease. But I need a judge's ruling on this one... I can honestly say that I've seen it in enough bits and pieces that I'm pretty certain I've seen the whole thing. Even if the viewing process resembled watching Pulp Fiction because it was all out of order. Does this count as having seen it? I don't really need to watch it, do I? (please say no, please say no)
Adieu!
That blanket is amazing! Katie rocks.

Sweet blanket!!
I KNOW you'll get pics with Malcolm McDowell!
I am never a good one to ask about Grease - I can't stand it. So, No - don't go.

She thanks you. And I know she rocks. ;-)

Yay! One more vote against Grease! Katie's never seen it. And, yes, I plan on pictures with Malcolm.

Let me know if you're going to go to the signing. We can meet up. Katie's going to meet me but not to see ACO. I've scared her off of it. I don't want her shivering in fear and disgust after watching it. ;-)
As for Grease, I'm torn because it's a double feature with The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I LOVE!
Orders? I'd have to ask, and she'd have to charge you out the yin yang.

Nope, you must see Grease, and let me know when you are around :)

Your opinion doesn't count. ;-)
"Around" where? McHenry?

You are so fortunate to be able to go to book signings and such. We very rarely get any of that, being out in the middle of nowhere.
Katie's baby blanket is of teh awesome.
Grease is plenty cheesy, and can be fun if you're in the right frame of mind, but watch out for the songs. They're serious earwigs.

I already know the songs. All of them. Far too well. I can sing along and I'm not proud of that fact.

You of all people are a Grease supporter?!?! Your LEGO minifigs are hanging their heads in shame.

That could cause legal entanglements I'm not willing to deal with.

You totally have to see Grease. It's an "experience". I made Mr. AP sit through it, if that helps. If nothing else, go for the popcorn. :)

Has he forgiven you?

I think I might actually be the only person on the planet to have never seen Clockwork Orange.

That must be remedied. Grease not so much.
