Lost without a name...

This morning, I received a gift in the mail... Mythos Buddies' Buddy Cthulhu. I've been fascinated by the character of Cthulhu since one of my RAs introduced me to a RPG he played on a regular basis called The Call of Cthulhu. And I've been wanting a figurine of one for a long time.

Well I finally found one in Buddy Cthulhu.

But the nickname Buddy kinda sucks, don'cha think?

So, this morning, I put out a call of my own (See what I did there? Ha ha!) on Twitter, Google+, and Instagram asking followers to suggest alternate nicknames for the little guy. I've received 18 suggestions and I now leave it to all of you to pick the winner!

First, lemme introduce you to our nameless Cthulhu...

Name Me!

Now, if you will, please vote!

I think I'll leave this open for a few days and you can vote as often as you like. It's not like this is going to determine the Presidency of the United States or anything.

UPDATE: Sorry, didn't realize I had shut off multiple responses in the survey. That has now been fixed. Go to town. Although I still don't know what's wrong with my comments. Grrrrr...

Yeah, so this was kind of a throwaway post. Just a little fun and a way to engage all of you. Hey, we bloggers like to have a little fun every now and again, right?

But if you're looking for non-Cthulhu content, how about a discussion on movies? Katie and I have seen several lately (yes, we still go to our cheap ghetto theater so we can afford it) including new releases like Captain America, Crazy Stupid Love, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Horrible Bosses, The Change-Up, and Transformers 3.

But there are a bunch more that are out that we're interested in seeing and I'm wondering if any of you have checked them out. We're considering seeing Friends With Benefits this weekend and I really want to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes (Katie has no desire to see this one). I'm on the fence about Cowboys & Aliens and am wondering if it's worth the cost of a ticket or should we just wait until Netflix has it in a few months? And our local cheap theater is still offering Super 8.

Which are good? Which are not? Guide us.

It's the season of the shark...

I've been spending some time this morning catching up on TiVo'd shows from Discovery's Shark Week extravaganza. For some reason, despite my fascination with sharks, I've never really tuned into Shark Week. It's kinda like all the other holidays that...

I enjoyed FWB, particularly the banter between Mila and Justin.

That's why Katie and I want to see it. They look like they'd be fun together.

Marty Mankins

I totally missed out on the naming contest.

As for movies, the last one we saw was Cowboys and Aliens, which I rather enjoyed. Good cast, well done plot and all loose ends were tied up in the film. I really need/want to see Super 8, but haven't yet. Must remedy soon.

I'm upset I haven't seen Super 8 yet.
