I love all of you...
In case you didn't figure out the picture yesterday, that was legendary baseball manager Casey Stengel. He was wearing the number 37, a nod to my 37th birthday. That was why I posted it.
Yesterday, a lot of people were asking me what I was going to do to celebrate my birthday. Were Katie and I going out to a nice dinner? Were we going to a bar to party? What?
You wanna know what we did? We stayed home. And I'm all kinds of okay with that.
Instead of going out to dinner, Katie made me one of my favorite meals, beef stroganoff. Instead of going out for drinks, we had a nice bottle of petit verdot. Instead of having a ton of people sing me happy birthday with a cake, she brought home a small ice cream roll cake and sang it to me herself.
Simply put, I loved it.
But, being Katie, the evening wouldn't be complete without a little smartassery.
After she gave me my two cards (we have a tradition of always giving each other one funny card and one sincere card), she told me she had a gift for me and then presented me with two bottles of bodywash that she got as a BOGO deal. Not that I didn't need it, I had run out of both my home and gym bottles in the last week. I was actually using her bodywash after a while. I smelled all kinds of girlie over the weekend. But leave it to Katie to use that as a "gift" after getting me excited.
For the record, she did give me real gifts. We had agreed a while ago that my resubscription to Sirius/XM was a birthday gift as well as a new black peacoat that is on order from Kenneth Cole. So I can't say she didn't give me some great gifts in addition to the bodywash.
Despite everything, Twitter remains my social network of choice. I know many of you prefer Facebook or Google+ or, God forbid, MySpace (is that even around anymore?). But I will remain loyal to Twitter forev... until it pisses me off enough that I feel compelled to leave.
While reviewing my list of followers, I felt otherwise compelled to take a moment to thank all 255 of you who I follow and who follow me back. I love tweeting back and forth with you. We have some good talks, in 140 characters or less.
I love all 28 - 1 or FF16 or 111111112 of you.
We should be the ones thanking you for following us.
As for the birthday, the simple celebration at home sounds like it was great. A resubscribe to SiriusXM sounds like a nice gift.

Strippers, midgets, and monkeys?? Oh my!! I feel like I'm missing out.

I'd live to say it was intentional, so let's just say it was. ;-)

The small intimate celebrations are often the best ones aren't they?

I wholly agree with you on that one!

It took me a lot longer than I thought it would to find my face in that crowd.
I'm glad you had a great birthday. A great birthday for a great man!

Thanks, sis. I was so disappointed I couldn't find myself. I guess I'm not friends with me.

You and Katie are all sorts of adorable. :) So glad you had such a wonderful birthday!
By the way, Matt uses my girlie shaving cream to shave his neck and head whenever his runs out. He smells all sorts of lovely peach and cream. :D

Isn't that a Prince song?
