It comes and goes...
I can't believe there are only two Snippet Wednesdays left this year. Where did the time go? Why am I always asking that question? Oy!
Caramel
A coworker brought several of us little Chinese food-shaped gift boxes with homemade caramels in them. Good stuff. And she's going to share the recipe! If they turn out for us, I'll share it with all of you. From her description, it sounds as though it's not that much different than earlier this year when Katie and I made peanut brittle. That was fun! Almost more of a science lab experiment than cooking. Just need a Bunsen burner and goggles and the occasional fireball and we're set!
Reaction
This past weekend, Katie and I were visiting her family for our first Christmas celebration of the year. Before heading out, we were introduced by her parents to a game show on GSN called Chain Reaction. Have you ever watched it? It's all kinds of cool. Basically, you are given two words in a stack (the first and last words) with five empty word spaces in between. You choose if you want to try to guess the word after the first or the word before the final one. But they have to make sense in two-word couplets. For example, you are given INNER and CLUB and you have to figure out the chain that links them up. So, it could possibly be INNER --> SPACE --> SUIT --> CASE --> WESTERN (the University) --> CULTURE --> CLUB (I just came up with this one on my own). Two teams gamble from a pot of money if they can get the next word in the chain right. Team with the most money wins. Addictive!
Heroes
The LEGO sets featuring DC Comics superheroes have started popping up at TRU (I'd link but LEGO's Superheroes website is a bit broken right now). Pretty cool that LEGO has the license to all the DC characters as well as Marvel. But the only sets they had in stock were a $44 Batwing set that I didn't want to spend the money on or some $15 Hero Factory-esque sets where you build a robot-looking version of Batman, Joker, or Green Lantern. I think I'm waiting to see what small sets I can find after the holidays are done and the craziness subsides a bit.
Spicy
I met up with my dad and brother for lunch today at a sandwich shop called The Spicy Pickle. We've been there before and liked it. As we were talking, though, my dad looked at the cup containing my drink and said, "that could be a little offensive." My brother and I were confused until we looked carefully at the artistic display of the company's name on the cup. Basically, it was their logo in the middle with the words "Spicy" and "Pickle" scattered at different angles, colors, and sizes behind it. One of the larger versions of the word "Spicy" was cut off by the logo so it spelled "Spic." Yeah, could cause issues. I wish I took a picture of it.
Xenomorph
Anyone have access to a handpuppet-sized chestburster Xenomorph from the Alien series of movies? I'm not having much luck online. Let me know. Seriously.
And now there's only one Snippet Wednesday left. C'est la vie. Time to go. Adios, peeps!
I do not have access to a chestburster xenomorph. Sorry, dude.
You can totally do the caramel. I only say that because I won't be even trying that or peanut brittle. :)

The LEGO Hero sets are of high interest to me, too. But like yourself, I will wait until after the holidays to see what I can find. I wish there was an Aquaman.

Have you been reading the DC New 52 Aquaman? Freaking awesome!

I made caramel drop cookies a few weeks ago. Making caramel is incredibly easy and so very yummy. Make some extra to store in the fridge - it's a great ice cream topper!

I have seen the Alien puppets years and years ago, not sure where to get a hold of one. Kind of a creepy tree ornament if you ask me. If I knew anyone that had one, it would more likely be the singing version from Spaceballs.

Not a tree ornament. Better. And I remember seeing them years ago, too. But can't find them to save my life now. No eBay or elsewhere on the web that I can find.
