Got my chips cashed in...
While I wouldn't call this month a "failure" in terms of my New Year's Resolutions, I wouldn't call it a spectacular success, either.
I did make progress on some fronts. But I bombed on a coup,e others, too.
Oh, well. Can't win them all.
1. Meet a neighbor and remember their name beyond that one meeting
Nadie.
2. Read 20 books
A good month for reading: I finished Stephenson's Snow Crash, Wil Wheaton's Just A Geek, Ian Fleming's Casino Royale, and volumes 5, 6, and 7 of Kirkman, Adlard, and Rathburn's The Walking Dead. I'm also about 75% of the way through a spec book titled The Father Who Never Yelled by Alex Austin. I call it a "spec book" because it's not yet published. The author, who I know through Goodreads, asked if I'd be willing to give it a pre-read before he submits it to a publisher, so I'm helping him out.
Out of a 20-book goal, I've finished a total 14 books (recall that every three volumes of The Walking Dead count as a single book) with number 15 soon to be complete. Woo!
3. Listen to one new band per month
I reviewed Oshin by DIIV yesterday.
4. Finish watching through season 5 of Doctor Who
Zilch.
5. Learn how to make homemade pasta
Nyet. I suppose that should've been in Italian not Russian, right?
6. Try one new recipe per week
Only one new recipe, but we made it twice. It was for homemade waffles using the waffle iron plates we got for our Cuisinart Griddler. Yummy!
7. Continue my 365 days of photography challenge
insty366 is going strong.
8. Post monthly updates on my progress
Here you go.
Talk to y'all soon!
You should be very happy about making reading progress. Maybe I can borrow some of that to help my 8 month update look much better than my 7 month update.

I'm telling you... You gotta find your slumpbuster book.

Glad you're having a better time of reading than I am. After finally finishing Game Of Thrones, I'm like 7% through the second one. I really suck at reading, I can read for hours on one day and then go a week and a half without picking up my Kindle.

But you finished Game of Thrones. That's something even I'm afraid to tackle.
