Write a song, make a note...

Remember, remember on the fifth of November
a New Year's post I've yet to jot.
I know of no reason a simple blog post
Should ever be forgot.

Heh heh. Sorry to trounce on Guy Fawke's Day with my own little agenda, but oh well.

And, yes, I have yet to write my October New Year's Resolution update post, so here it is...

1. Meet a neighbor and remember their name beyond that one meeting
Done.

2. Read 20 books
I have finished volumes 13 and 14 of Kirkman, Adlard, and Rathburn's The Walking Dead, and am halfway through volume 15. FInishing 15 would put me at 19 books total toward completing this resolution. But I'm stalled out on George R.R. Martin's The Game of Thrones. I'm enjoying the book, but just not hitting a stride with it. I've got another book I'm going to start figuring that TGOT may not be finished in time. We'll see.

3. Listen to one new band per month
I've been listening to the Through the Glass EP from Atlas Genius, Handwritten by The Gaslight Anthem, Shrines from Purity Ring, a self-titled EP from The Royal Concept, and Lonerism by Tame Impala.

4. Finish watching through season 5 of Doctor Who
I've watched about two or three more episodes from season 4. Seems like I'm on a tight timeline to finish the rest but considering I'm going on paternity leave next week through the end of the year, I might be able to make it work still. The paternity leave also may or may not help with my reading. We'll see.

5. Learn how to make homemade pasta
Nope.

6. Try one new recipe per week
Nope.

7. Continue my 365 days of photography challenge
I missed a day, but otherwise troopering through with insty366.

8. Post monthly updates on my progress
Almost missed it. Simplest part of this whole thing and I nearly blew it.

Stupid, stupid USA Network.

You along with other extended cable networks are supposed to be the place where good television is given a chance beyond just the simple ratings that define major networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX.

And now you're just like them cancelling both Fairly Legal and Common Law.

I will admit you gave more of a shot to Fairly Legal going through two seasons and 23 episodes. But to kill Common Law after only 12 episodes??? The show had hit a stride. While the first episode or two were rough around the edges, it got really damn good by the end of the season. I'm really going to miss the pairing of Michael Ealy and Warren Kole.

I really hate you right now, USA Network.

I'm cracking up, cracking up...

I had a dream the other night that my iPad developed a blemish. It was a round spiderweb like crack and, when I pressed down in the middle, it functioned like the home button. Kinda strange. Sure, no one wants...

Shake it up, baby...

Congratulations, President Obama. Women's uteruses (uteri?) are safe. Now can we get everybody back behind their desks and working instead of campaigning?

I just have to say I have been thoroughly enjoying the almost daily photos of that adorable baby of yours! He is just so cute & I think back to when my boy was that small(small being 9 pounds when he was born sideways.) Next March he will officially be a tween & I long for the days when we snuggled in the bed & watched cartoons. If you finish your year of daily photos with him, that would be awesome.

Sadly I have blown it on a couple days worth of photos of him including yesterday. Whoops!

I particularly enjoyed the 2nd season of Fairly Legal. I thought it got more interesting with the new lawyer brought into the firm. I think that USA's programming choices are what cost them on both of the shows. They pair 2 shows that don't seem to aim for similar audiences, and sort of shoved Common Law into Friday night no-man's land.

I didn't like the new lawyer, Ben, at first, but he really grew on me when we finally were introduced to his human side. Normally I would consider Friday to be no-man's-land, but with DVRs and whatnot these days, it's not as big a deal. Blue Bloods has survived pretty well on Friday for a major network like CBS.

Sybil Law

I loved The Game Of Thrones books (read them all) but the last one was a real struggle for me. It kind of sucked. Still haven't seen the show, though.
You need to make Katie some homemade pasta. Come on - I KNOW you guys have nothing but free time on your hands! ;)

You are not the first person I've talked to who has said the last book let them down. Oh and we have TONS of time! ;-)

Marty Mankins

While you are getting through The Walking Dead books, I'm still trying to get caught up with the episodes. I'm still on season 2. Guess I should add this to my TINTFA list.

Good catch on making this month's list update.

You're the one that saved my ass on that one. So thank you!
