Is it strong enough to burn away the cooking wine...

I was *this* close to having a 50% posting rate last month. *THIS* *CLOSE*. I missed it by one day because I got lazy yesterday. D'oh!

I'll hold that post until tomorrow or the day after and will, instead, give you my New Year's Resolution Recap for November.

Enjoy!

1. Meet a neighbor and remember their name beyond that one meeting
Done.

2. Read 20 books
Still having issues here as I posted the other day. I have one month and one book left. Here's hoping.

3. Listen to one new band per month
This month, I've been listening to EPs from Atlas Genius (good stuff), Windsor Drive (good stuff), and Capital Cities (freakin' fantastic stuff) as well as the debut album from Divine Fits (good stuff). I got a new album from Ellie Goulding but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. Next month.

4. Finish watching through season 5 of Doctor Who
Not only did being on paternity leave allow me to finish through seasons 4 and 5 of Doctor Who, but I also accepted and completed Katie's challenge of finishing through season 7.1 by December 1 when Xfinity promised to remove them from OnDemand. I basically watched a little more than three seasons in just a couple weeks' time. Recapping my feelings on the show was what I was going to write up yesterday.

5. Learn how to make homemade pasta
Nope. Nothing yet.

6. Try one new recipe per week
Oh, it was a good month for recipes other than homemade pasta. I know the resolution was for Katie and me, but I actually made all these MYSELF (unless otherwise indicated)! Roast chicken, chicken noodle soup (with homemade broth - two recipes in one!), pumpkin bourbon pie, pecan bourbon pie (Katie and I both worked on this one), turkey broth (haven't made soup out of it yet), and tuna pasta casserole. Check out some photos below.

My first attempt at roasted chicken. Here's hoping it tastes good. Pumpkin Bourbon Pie

7. Continue my 365 days of photography challenge
insty366 is alive but in desperate need of being labeled properly in Flickr.

8. Post monthly updates on my progress
Here you go.

And we'll have fun, fun, fun, till her daddy takes the keyboard away-ay-ay.

Happy December, y'all.

Read a book about love...

Nov 29
Why does my love of reading go in spurts? I hate that. I have been known to make a reading run where it takes me only a few days to finish a book and this has gone on for as...

The world comes tumbling down...

Dec 2
I'm not entirely sure why I did it or completely certain what I'm going to do with it, but, last week, I caved and started a Tumblr account. I think it might have been partly to save and share postings...

Those pics look too good, are they fake? I make broth/stock with my pressure cooker with leftover bones and vegetables/spices from garden. It's easy, cheap and sure beats the crap you get in those one quart cartons.

That's how I made the broth too... full carcass from the chicken and turkey. And they are not fake. I'm just that good an iPhoneographer.

That pecan pie looks amazing!

Hoping to see the pasta update for December. ;-)

And Divine Fits is pretty damn catchy.

Aren't the Fits great?
