We're really about to start the third month of this year??? SLOW DOWN ALREADY!

While I wait for that to never happen, shall we recap how I did with my 2013 Goals this month?

My challenge? To make sure I still have enough stuff to populate a Snippet Wednesday after creating a Snippet Tu(n)esday music post yesterday.

Can he do it??

I've admitted in the past that I'm not a big fan of reviewing music. It's just never been an easy thing for me to do. And the lack of comments on my last couple music reviews would indicate that music reviews may not exactly be the primary reason why you read me. Saving that stuff for Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, eh? I can't say I blame you.

But I do love music and don't necessarily want to give up on talking about it here. And I do so love the name "Tu(n)esday" and don't want to quit using it.

There's been a big to-do in Illinois news lately regarding reports that police officers have been allowed to be on duty while "half drunk."

According to an NBC5 Investigative Team report, this has been happening in several Chicago suburbs and it's protected, in some cases, by union contracts.

While Nathan has been rolling over in his sleep for a few weeks now, he has had yet to do it while awake.

That changed this morning.

Oy. It's been a long week so far. Sad thing is that we're only half way through it. What better way to pass some time than with a Snippet Wednesday!

You'll note that last sentence ended in an exclamation mark and not a question mark. That's because I really don't want you to make alternate suggestions as to how to pass the time. Really. Let's just pretend it doesn't get any better than Snippet Wednesday. Do that for my ego, will ya?

Today is Katie's birthday and I wanted to take a moment to wish her a happy one.

However, I think Nathan may have beaten me on the sincerity front. How am I supposed to beat baby birthday kisses and chin nibbles??

As Nathan was wide awake and seemed "in it" for the long haul tonight, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to type all this up and would've, instead, had to give you a Snippet Thursday: The Reckoning.

Alas, daddy won! Nathan is asleep and I'm finally eating dinner at 9:15 p.m.

On February 5, Chicago-bred punk rockers Alkaline Trio unleashed the new single "I Wanna Be A Warhol" upon the world. 

I was a big Alkaline Trio fan back in the day. I had a lot of their early stuff and then lost track of them for a while.

One of my favorite comedies of all time is Real Genius. My brother and I watched that movie so many times growing up that we could quote it. I can still quote it, in fact.

One great line from the movie goes something like...

Chris Knight (Val Kilmer): Would you be prepared if gravity reversed itself? The only thing I can't figure out is how to keep the change in my pockets. I've got it! Nudity!

Ooooohhhhh... meme! I think. Maybe it's not. These days, they call those photos with weird typed-over captions "memes," so I don't know what to believe anymore.

Screw it. I'm calling it a meme anyway.

In an effort to make some progress on my 2013 Goal of converting my old static blog to Typepad, I loaded my old website's files onto my Microsoft SkyDrive account.

The way I figure it, when I want to start converting, I can just open a file from SkyDrive and copy/paste it into Typepad. Should be easy, right?

Nathan woke us up this morning with a very light whimper at about 2:45.

I say "light whimper" simply to note that there was no crying at all. Just him making some sounds that would seem to indicate more that he was shocked to be somewhere unexpected.

Month the first done.
