Snippet Wednesday 2013.31...

Welcome to an exhaustively long edition of Snippet Wednesday, brought to you by Starbucks and my desire to ingest a little caffeine after a long day.

Have any of you ever played the game CastleMine on an iOS device? I've liked tower defense style games since getting hooked on Ninja Town a handful of years ago but since they have yet to port that game over to iOS, I'm left searching. If not CastleMine, any other TD games you'd recommend?

I've always thought that the game Words With Friends would be better if they kept statistics of your win-loss totals among other things. It's something they should have done years ago. Well, they finally have and I was overjoyed to hear it. Then I saw the price... $4.99 for the in-app upgrade. That's more than I spent for the full version for my iPhone and the HD version for my iPad COMBINED! Nope. Ain't doing it.

I found this on the BBC's Technology page and totally want to work on one with Nathan when he's old enough. It's a DIY digital camera called the Bigshot. How much fun would that be?

You'd think I would have learned by now, but I really need to stay away from anything web related if I want to not destroy the ending of shows that have aired but are sitting unwatched on my DVR. Case in point, Katie and I were watching Perception last night from a couple weeks ago and I simply went on IMDb to look up an actor's name. While there, I accidentally saw a headline in the user forum that ruined the episode's ending for me. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I've become a big fan of the iOS app Passbook. I use it with my Starbucks and Walgreens cards and have also used it with Fandango. But I, like Dave2, think it's not being utilized to its fullest capability. And I know one step it could take in the right direction... acquire the team and technology behind the Key Ring app! Then all my rewards and loyalty cards can be contained within Passbook. C'mon, Apple! Make it happen!

Over the weekend, a new reader named Heather commented asking if she could ask a question. Normally I don't respond to that sort of thing (always sounds spammy to me), but I did. And I'm glad I did. Heather shared a video with me of her mesothelioma survivor story. It's a good story and I'm sharing it with all of you as a result. Check it on mesothelioma.com. Congratulations, Heather!

Just a reminder that this Friday is #NINsday. Celebrate! Tweet your support using that hashtag and let us all know which Nine Inch Nails albums and songs you're enjoying. Sure to celebrate are @kevin_spencer, @martymankins, @MommyMG, and @iron_fist. Will you be a cool kid, too?

Sure to celebrate is RIGHT! If you missed it, the NIN performance at last week's Lollapalooza (in your fair neck of the woods) is required viewing tomorrow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vF6BXLi2OyA

Thanks for the link! I'll have to watch.

Marty Mankins

The celebration was great, even while traveling (The Fragile Left disc got mostly played) I can't wait for 9/9/13.... that's going to be a double #NINsday (I need to remember the little s in that hashtag)

The s makes all the difference. Will the new album be out by then?

Marty Mankins

Yep. New NIN comes out on 9/3/13.

Yay NIN!!!
