2013 Goals: September Recap...

Another month with very positive progress. And I wasn't even trying particularly hard. That's a good thing, isn't it?

1. Convert old site to Typepad
After realizing that the method I was using was a complete time suck (posting each one on the day it occurred in the past), I started posting a week at a time on the day that the week would have ended, I found this taking far less time and it has actually become an easily realized goal. I am now done through December 2002 and only have all of 2003 and 2004 and the first half of 2005 left. By my estimation, I can finish those with one week of dedicated work. Now to find that time for "dedicated work."

2. Read the entire run of Kirkman's Invincible
I am through issue 84 of 105. Only 21 left!

3. Listen to one new band per month
It was, again, going to be Ghostface Killah, but that's not happening. I've only listened to the first three or four tracks of his latest album mostly because I was presented with the new album The Bones of What You Believe by CHVRCHES (spoken as "Churches," BTW). Oh. My. God. This album is the closest to musical perfection I've experienced in years. And that declaration takes into account my love of Japandroid's Celebration Rock last year. I could lose myself to this kind of synthpop day in and day out. A few more listens and it will surely unseat my current top album of the year, Daft Punk's Random Access Memories. I cannot find fault with any aspect of the debut album from this Scottish trio, but I just need to be sure. I like the combination of M83-esque sonicism with the sharp vocals of mostly lead vocalist Lauren Mayberry. Oh how I love her voice.

4. Watch through season 4 of Sons of Anarchy (SoA) and season 2 of Game of Thrones (GoT)
Done with GoT and through season 4, episode 10 of SoA. Almost done with both of these.

5. Try three new recipes per month
We actually did three new recipes! Peanut Butter Brownie Bites that we found on Facebook, enchiladas from Emeril LaGasse, and a Chicken Broccoli Alfredo that Katie found in a Food Network magazine.

6. Post at least 50% of the year
I started off this month very strong with a full week of posting. Then it dropped to four posts per week in weeks two and three. And then a meager two last week. So add 18 posts to my overall total bringing me to 163/273. Still above 50%!

7. Run three 5Ks
I hit another road block on this one. I woke up a week ago Monday with a really sore back. Katie thinks it may have been a combination of sleeping really wrong exacerbated by picking up and playing with Nathan. So that's been keeping me from running because of the limp I've been harboring (it goes away the longer I stay upright, but work has me sitting at a computer all day). I have run with this pain once or twice, but it's not the best feeling afterward. At the moment, I'm not positive how this goal will play out. I'd still like to do the Running Scared 5K on October 26, but I haven't signed up for it yet.

8. Post monthly updates on my progress
You're reading it!

B-dee, b-dee, b-dee, that's all, folks!

Snippet Wednesday 2013.38...

It has been one heckuva weird day. I wish I could go into details, but it's work related and I tend to shy away from work blogging, as you know, unless it's pretty mundane things like non-work discussion with coworkers....

Tu(n)esday: Walkabout music...

Wait, wait, wait! Don't run away just because it's Tu(n)esday! I promise, I'm not reviewing music (at least not intentionally)! I actually have a legitimate question for all of you regarding your personal music listening habits! Every. Single. One. Of....

Marty Mankins

Nice recap. I just loaded the CHVRCHES album on my iPod nano, so will be tracking that here soon, in between all of my distracted events that occur in my life.

My TINTFA post coming this week, maybe later tonight if I can keep the "hey, can you help me?" people at bay.
