Running...

It's been nearly three months since I injured my knee and ankle at the Urban Warrior Dash.

It's been slightly more than one month since I felt any pain in my knee at all. Even impact pain.

New month. New plan. Time to start running again.

And I did just that during my lunch break at work today.

I can honestly say I wasn't expecting much. I knew it would be a lot of interval training with running interspersed with walking and I figured the vast majority would be walking.

And, oddly enough, it didn't turn out that way at all. I split my run/walk intervals evenly down the middle. 0.5 mile warm-up walk, 0.5 mile run, 0.25 mile walk, 0.25 mile run, 0.25 mile walk, 0.3 mile run, 0.05 cool-down walk. Done.

While not the greatest overall distance (2.1 miles), you gotta start somewhere, right? This is my "somewhere." I only hope it takes me somewhere great.

I'm doing this for you, Katie and Nathan. I want to be there for the two of you for as long as I possibly can and be the best person I can be along the way. I love you both.

Not the greatest? Are you kidding me?? You injured your knee and ankle and to be able to do that distance is actually really great! It's also good to take it slow so you don't end up injuring yourself again.

I went for a run a few weeks ago and did something to my right ankle. Now I have what I think is a bone spur from that injury and it hurts. So I'm still resting it (as much as one can) and taking it easy even though I've been itching to go back to running.

Maybe one day right?

Sorry about your bone spur. That sucks. I hope it heals up. So, yes, take it easy, will ya?? And thanks.
