Snippet Wednesday 2013.51...

Merry Christmas, y'all! Hope you are all spending the day with someone(s) special and not actually reading my blog. Although I won't lie and say I wouldn't be honored if you did read my blog on Christmas. I'd be totally honored.

Anyway, here's a stocking's worth of Snippet Wednesday to tide you through the Yule. No coal. Promise. Do you have any idea how much coal costs? Kids should be happy to get it.

Growing
It's hard to believe how much Nathan has changed in the last year. Then you see an old photo side-by-side with a new photo and BLAMMO! Just look at his two Santa photos...

Oh, little dude. Stop growing already. You're killing us.

Stuffing
Here's the creme-de-la-creme gift we got for Nathan. Stuffed versions of all four major characters from his favorite show Sid the Science Kid.

We hope he likes them. We'll find out soon.

Cutting
We got a bit of a Christmas gift from Nathan this week... the molar that has been causing him so much grief the last couple months finally cut through! Now we just need him to cut seven more of those boogers.

Chickening
I did something on Monday I thought I'd never do... I ate at White Castle. Well, not at White Castle, per se, but ate food from one. My boss and another coworker decided to go there for lunch on Monday and invited me along. I said no because, when I was a kid, I got really sick from the smell of the place and never returned. Then, about four years ago, some coworkers brought a slider sack to a Christmas party and the smell made me gag.

But, being the chicken sandwich fan I am, I've been intrigued by their snack-size chicken sandwiches. So the two of them said they'd bring me one to try. I LIKED IT.

It's a Saturnalia miracle!

Nathan's changes seem to happen so gradually, you hardly notice them until....WOW!! What a difference!! Dad and I love that little dude!!

kapgar

The difference is freaky, isn't it?

Samuel

We don't have White Castle around here. We had a Krystal in town for awhile, but it closed. I know they're not the same thing, but it's the closest thing I'll ever get to WC around here. No one in my family seemed to like Krystal. I enjoyed it though.

kapgar

I've heard of Krystal but have never lived near one. Always had WC though. Strange considering where all I've lived.

Samuel

Krystal is like White Castle's awkward cousin.

Marie

Your kid is just too much with the cute. I wish I was nearby just so I could babysit!

That's really interesting that you have carried the taste memory from when you were a kid. So I'm guessing if someone brought you the food from there each time and you didn't have to step inside, you're totally ok! Our bodies/minds are so weird and intriguing.

Merry Christmas (a day later)!

kapgar

Ohhhh... I guess if you're gonna die by slider, you should go with the real deal.

kapgar

Merry Christmas to you and Matt as well. Just remember to not being me sliders and I'm okay. It's the smell of those things that gets me. And I'm a burger lover otherwise. So weird that those affect me so adversely.

I don't remember the last time I've been to a White Castle. They sell the frozen variety here in the grocery stores, which yes, I've tried before and they are not the same as those greasy sliders.

Nathan is growing up. Little toddler, he is.

kapgar

Frozen White Castle sounds even worse than fresh.

Marty Mankins

Oh they are pretty bad. Very bad.

kapgar

I'm certainly never trying them, then.
