2014 Goals: April Recap...

What a dreary day today. I thought it was supposed to be "April showers bring May flowers" not "May showers bring summer flooding conditions." What the deuce?

Hopefully my progress on 2014 Goals won't be quite so dismal.

1. The Reading Goal:
Read George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire novels 2, 3, and 4

I am on digital page 904 of 1400 in book 3 Storm of Swords currently. Not bad to be 2/3 of the way through the second of three books after only four months.

2. The Photography Goal:
Shoot and blog about one macro photo per week ("Macro Monday")

Here they are...

3. The Music Goal:
Listen to one new band per month

I've given a single listen to albums from several bands that are playing at this year's Pitchfork Music Festival and, to be honest, none really moved me. But the one album I did listen to (sadly they won't be at Pitchfork) is Lunatic by Kongos. It's described as an alternative world music band and all four guys are brothers and I really am enjoying it so far. I'd give it a solid B+. The other albums I'm withholding judgment until I listen a bit more.

4. The Food Goal:
Try three new recipes per month

Katie and I apologize, but we tried no new recipes in April. Sure, we cooked (mostly her), but nothing new.

5. The Fitbit Goal:
Take an average of 10,000 steps per day

I had a really strong first 20 days of the month in which I had more than 10K steps every day including weekends. But, like any streak, it had to end. Still doing good, though, overall. I averaged 12,790 steps per day in April!

6. The Blog Goal I:
Convert to new blogware

Haven't done anything on this. But, with the DDoS attack on Typepad last week, my decision to proceed with this is resolved. Not sure if it will be Drupal or Wordpress at this point, though. But I will need to get hosting, regardless, to do what I want to do. And I can get that hosting for much cheaper than what I am currently paying for my Typepad service.

7. The Blog Goal II:
Post 50% of the year

18 of 30 days bringing me to 90 of 120 possible days, or 75%.

8. The Katie Goal:
Read Sue Grafton's alphabet novels, A through L

Katie finished G is for Gumshoe before taking a break to read Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy. She tore through those in, like, a week and is now on to H is for Homicide. I get the feeling she will finish H and I and maybe even start J before the end of May.

I promise to do better with recipes this month. Really! I swear. And I'll even make up for it by taking photos of them. Haven't done that in a while. I miss food porn.

Snippet Wednesday...

I know I tend to theme some of my Snippet Wednesday snippets. Sometimes very loosely. But I try. This time, the theme is pretty obvious. And, heck, I can even tie it back to the title of this post in...

I don't usually like to talk about work here on my blog. I don't want to get Dooce'd, after all. But, I am going to blog a little about it today. In very general terms. Oh, and positive ones, too!...

I think you definitely have to go with the blogware that rhymes with RuPaul. I mean, c'mon now! ha ha ha ha
