A couple months ago, I saw the Spike Jonze-helmed film Her starring Joaquin Phoenix and the voice of Scarlett Johannsson and loved it. I swore I wrote a review of it but cannot find it now for the life of me. Oh well.

You'll just have to take my word for it that I liked it a lot.

Anyway, the premise is that the lead character played by Phoenix falls in love with the uber-evolved artificial intelligence voice behind his computer's operating system. And she, voiced by Johnannsson, falls in love with him as well.

This movie wasn't the first exploration into humans falling for AIs. It was also covered comedically in an episode of The Big Bang Theory when Raj fell in love with his iPhone's Siri assistance app even going so far as having a fantasy where she's a full-on corporeal woman.

Her, on the other hand, is much more sincere and heartfelt and I loved it.

About a week ago, I was perusing the photos on a friend's Instagram account and saw a screen capture taken from his iPhone where he asked Siri "Are you her?" in reference to the movie. After seeing the capture, I had to do this myself as well. The results were pretty funny as you'll see below.

I'm not a big Siri user. But if I had known she could be that funny, maybe I would have.

That was one of my favorite movies from (last year?). It was so sad. One of those movies that you can only watch once because, hey, it's a downer. The ending was great. It totally swerved me because I thought it was gonna be a Hollywood ending of them ending up together, or him finding a new woman and having to disconnect her or something. Totally didn't see the actual ending coming.

Spike Jonze is good like that.

*snort* Siri is pretty hilarious sometimes (or they've made her/it so). From time to time I'll ask her ridiculous questions like "Siri, do you love me?" (Each times she says something different to that). One time I asked her what my husband and I should on a Friday night and she immediately replied by playing one of Daft Punk's songs. Pretty smart eh?

kapgar

Daft Punk? Seriously? I'm not gonna ask if you took her up on that.

I seem to remember the review you wrote, but not sure where it was posted. Perhaps your Tumblr account?

I try to have fun with Siri here and there. I might have to try the above here soon.

So I'm not necessarily crazy on having written that review. And I may have to try some new things with Siri, too.
