I'm not sure if I hated myself, just needed to get a good crying jag out, or it was all sheer coincidence, but I hit emotional media overload this past weekend.

An interesting thing happened on the way to updating to iOS 8 on my iPhone... I lost my source photo for last week's Macro Monday. It's likely backed up on our laptop at home, but I want to get this post live now and just really do not have a chance to scour iPhotos to find it.

Several years ago, when Katie and I announced we were going on vacation to Disney World, Marie asked if I would take a picture of Stormin' Norman taking out Goofy.

Most of the guesses to last week's Macro Monday photo were just hovering around the outside of correct. There were several that got the item correct, but not the more detailed question I also appended on there.

A couple months ago, I saw the Spike Jonze-helmed film Her starring Joaquin Phoenix and the voice of Scarlett Johannsson and loved it. I swore I wrote a review of it but cannot find it now for the life of me. Oh well.

I've been using Vine, the six-second video social sharing app, on my iPhone for about a year and a half now. I jumped on board thinking it would be a cool way to chronicle Nathan's daily activities and growth without going all-out, expenses-be-damned video crazy. And it has proven to be very useful in this endeavor.

As a teenager, I frequented record stores. Primarily places that allowed swaps and purchases of used albums. I had three of them where I lived and shopped equally at them all. All three of them have since died out as have the ones I went to in college. Used record stores are pretty much dead.

While I didn't think last week's photo was too terrible, I also didn't think it would be particularly easy. I got several partial correct guesses and one, repeat one, that was spot-on exactamundoifically correct!

Of course I've always realized that automobile dealerships are at war with each other for their very survival. I guess I just never realized to the extent that their "pissing wars" would go.

I know I was griping a couple weeks ago about how I had not yet seen Guardians of the Galaxy. Turns out that my wife, in all of her infinite love for me, had been plotting out a secret viewing, which was executed a couple Sundays ago. Did I like it? The easy answer is "yes!" I very much enjoyed it.

When you see someone on the street that you haven't seen in many years and swear you know -- so certain that you feel it in your gut -- do you say "hi" knowing full well you could be wrong and run the risk of embarrassing yourself or do you just move on with life and let yourself wonder?

In addition to the big news of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple's NFE by-phone payment system, and the Apple Watch, the band U2 came out on stage and announced that they were releasing their new album Songs of Innocence for free. I'm not sure how long this "free" status will hold up, so nab it while you can.

Really not a bad Macro Monday at all. Several of you got it right.

Aside from my listening to and posthumous review of A Night at the Met, I didn't really do much of a tribute to the late Robin Williams. Considering how much of a fan I was (and still am) of his work, that's shocking.

I'm playing around with some themes here as I hope to launch a redesigned site soon and, as I was working on subpages, I realized that my Blogroll is dwindling a bit.

Katie and I had the Tuesday from Hell yesterday. It started early and really didn't let up until almost bedtime.

I'm writing my August 2014 Goals recap from the waiting room of a Hyundai dealer seething because they cannot replicate the non-start issue I've had happen to me twice in the last two days. And, because it starts fine when it does start, there is no check engine light or error note in the car's computer. Dammit. I hate cars.

Got a mixed bag of results on last week's Macro Monday. A "handful" of correct answers... and some truly strange ones, too.
