Weepy...

I'm not sure if I hated myself, just needed to get a good crying jag out, or it was all sheer coincidence, but I hit emotional media overload this past weekend.

On Friday, I finished Judd Winick's Pedro and Me: Friendship, Loss, and What I Learned about his friendship with Pedro Zamora that developed on the set of The Real World: San Francisco (season three) and continued beyond Zamora's death from AIDS.

I cried.

That night, Katie and I watched The Fault In Our Stars starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort as young adults who fall in love despite both having terminal cancer.

I got teary at the end.

Add to these the fact that I'm also reading Tatiana de Rosnay's Sarah's Key about a family torn apart in France during the Holocaust.

I just have a personal vendetta against emotional stability, don't I?

And this is a big reason why I stay away from these types of stories. Sad. So sad. And always everywhere in everyday life.

I'm sticking with my adventure/mystery/sci-fy movies/books. Yup.

But they were all pretty good!

I'm reading the book now (up to Chapter 5 so far) and my daughter, who has read the book and seen the movie, has warned me about it getting teary towards the end. It means you are connected to the story when you get weepy. At least that's my opinion.

As good an explanation as I could hope for. ;-)
