Tu(n)esday: iPhone...

I know I've done this sort of post in the past, but it's a nice one to revisit on occasion. It's that post where I ask what music you're carrying with you on phone, tablet, MP3 player, etc.

The last time I did this post, I had a bunch of albums on there that I said would likely never be removed. Ah, hindsight. They tell me you’re 20/20. I don't think any of those are still on my iPhone, which is my primary music player. The reason is not because I don't like them anymore. It's because for the final two months of 2014, I decided to stuff as many 2014 releases on my iPhone as possible so I could give them all a fair shake for my YEBO list. As I ruled out albums, I deleted them (from my iPhone, not my overall music library). Then, when I finished the post, I completely re-evaluated my music. I've got a lot of new stuff on there.

Here's a screen cap of my album cover flow...

In order from left to right, top row:

  • Blackalicious - A2G EP
  • Project Pitchfork - Black
  • Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace
  • Foals - Holy Fire
  • Panda Bear - Mr. Noah
  • Run D.M.C. - Raising Hell
  • St. Vincent - St. Vincent

Left to right, second row:

  • Fall Out Boy - American Beauty, American Psycho
  • CHVRCHES - The Bones of What You Believe
  • Neon Indian - Era Extraóa
  • St. Vincent - Krokodil EP
  • Marilyn Manson - THE PALE EMPEROR
  • AC/DC - Rock or Bust
  • St. Vincent - Strange Mercy

Left to right, third row:

  • Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel & the Furious Five - The Best of...
  • Cracker - Cracker
  • Hall & Oates - H2O - don't judge me.
  • Smashing Pumpkins - Monuments to an Elegy
  • Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms
  • TV on the Radio - Seeds
  • Charli XCX - Sucker

Left to right, second row:

  • Simple Minds - Big Music
  • Neon Indian - Daytrotter Session - 12/4/2009
  • Tegan and Sara - Heartthrob
  • Faith No More - "Mutherfucker" single
  • Project Pitchfork - Quantum Mechanics
  • Foo Fighters - Sonic Highways
  • Naked Raygun - Throb Throb

Also on my iPhone that didn't make the cut on the screen capture are Foals' Total Life Forever and Wild Cub's Youth.

A vast majority of these are ones that I really like right now and just want to have at the ready should I want to listen to them. Then there are a handful of new ones that I haven't heard yet. Those include Marilyn Manson, Simple Minds, Smashing Pumpkins, AC/DC, and Panda Bear. Hey, two of those just came out today. It's amazing enough that I've already synced the music onto my iPhone. Chalk that up to staying home and coming into work late.

What's on your device?

Hey all, I've got a couple of questions I'd like to throw your way if you don't mind. 1. With the Super Bowl a mere week and a half away, Katie and I need to plan our team-themed dinner for...

Nice choices. As for me, I'm still rolling with my Classic so the answer to your question is: everything.

I figured you would. ;-)

Foo Fighters! My Favorites (duh).

I don't have any music on my phone because well, it just can't handle that amount of memory on it. Instead I listen to NPR One (for news and stories), have podcasts, and Pandora. I wish smartphone makers would put more effort into building better, long lasting batteries and increasing memory space without jacking up the price so much.

¡Ojalá que si!
