Yes, that is the song "Everything is Awesome" performed by Tegan & Sara from the soundtrack to The LEGO Movie. And, let me tell you, everything is not awesome when that song is stuck in your head.

I'm going to admit something now that may not be very popular. In fact, I can guarantee one person who will leave a comment of utter disdain to what I'm about to say.

Actually, no. On second thought, I can't say it. So I'm going to let someone else say it for me. Watch at about the 22 second mark. That says it all.

Yes, it's true. I can't stand the song. And this despite the fact that I not only love LEGO, but I'm a big fan of Tegan & Sara! I couldn't stand the song the first time I heard it. I couldn't stand it when I heard it in the context of the movie. And I couldn't stand on Oscar night when they performed it live.

Speaking of the live performance on Oscar night... what the heck was that all about? When were Tegan & Sara downgraded to sideshow participants in the song? It was basically an Andy Samberg & Friends performance. That made me dislike it even more.

After the Oscars were over, that song was still so firmly rooted in my head that only one thing finally shook it late the next day...

Inexplicably, Tears for Fears' "Shout" has proven the only way to get "Everything is Awesome" out of my head. Thank you, Roland and Curt.
