This week, Katie and I moved beyond just general idea creation and have begun to earnestly plan Nathan's birthday.

I know I promised this recap about nine days ago, but, let's face it, there were already enough media outlets covering the Pitchfork Music Festival both as it was going on and in its aftermath, that mine just would've been overkill.

I have a coworker who shares a lot of the same interests as I do. Comics, toys, science fiction, some fantasy, the works.

As parents, Katie and I made one of the big trust leaps today, we left Nathan at home with his first babysitter.

As I announced last night, Nathan and I had a boys' night at home while mommy went to see a movie.

Today was my deadline.

I may love modern electronic and independent music and the like, but I have trouble saying no to my old classics. Mostly the old metal bands that I loved as a teenager.

I was talking with a coworker last week about strange encounters with your local "boys in blue," yanno, the police. We both had tales to tell. We both laughed. Now I want to share my weird visits with you and see if you would care to share back. I'm not looking for litigious stuff. Just funny or awkward or whatnot.

Something unexpected happened tonight, Katie and I watched the ESPY Awards on ABC and... we enjoyed it.

Despite being a Chicago resident, I do not go to Lollapalooza. Never have and I don't see that changing... ever.

Downpourings of rain overnight from yesterday to today. More rain tonight into tomorrow. This after area rivers finally started going back down after spilling over last week.

Note: I have no idea why this didn't post last night like it was supposed to. Maybe I hit the wrong button. Maybe my iPad disconnected from the web in mid post. Weird. Sorry. It was a quick one anyway. Post-dated, it shall be.

Today, we started the process of reclaiming our bedroom as an adult bedroom.

Initially my blog post today was intended to be a rant about how Nathan hates potty training... to some degree.

Because I've been varying degrees of sick for the last few weeks, I've been drinking a lot of tea. Lots and lots of hot tea. This means that, during that time, I've had zero... repeat zero... coffee.

Wanna know one of my favorite things about summer? The leftovers!

Admittedly I'm not the biggest soccer/fútbol fan in the world. I'd like to understand better and enjoy it more and... I'm trying.

Following yesterday's visit by Katie and Nathan to me at work, today, Nathan and I visited Katie at work and took her to lunch.

Katie usually has Thursdays off from work and stays home with Nathan all day. Once in a while, the two of them will come visit me for lunch.

It's July 1. We're into the second half of 2015 already! Can you believe this crap? Where does the time go? Nathan's third birthday is in two and a half months!
