I was walking around recently when I passed by a tree that made me do a double take. I snapped a picture. I'm curious if you see it, too...
If you look near the bottom-right, you may see an odd terminus to a branch. At the fat end of the branch, no less.

That's it. It's hanging inside the crook of the tree next to it. Soooo, based on the clean cut, a forestry crew came out and cut it off the tree to which it was previously attached and then never removed it. And, as it has no trunk, therefore, it has no food source and is dead.
So, um, what's the point? Am I missing some key element regarding tree growth here?
Nope. I call it laziness on the crew's part.
