Kala...

The other day, I was listening to Queen’s Flash Gordon soundtrack and was reminded of the line in the movie uttered by General Kala, “What do you mean, ‘Flash Gordon approaching’??”

It’s one of my favorite cheesy scenes in one of the cheesiest science fiction films ever made. In a world that had already been introduced to the likes of Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, this campfest of a movie with its horrifyingly bad visual effects and costuming and everything else should never have existed. Yet it does. And I love its terribleness.

And the late Mariangela Melato sells almost every scene she’s in as the brutal General Kala.

Anyway, I looked it up on YouTube and got this wonderful montage of scenes starring Kala...

I started thinking about what would happen if they remade this movie. Who would star as who? Once I got to Mariangela Melato, I knew immediately.

Melania Trump!!

It’s almost too perfect, isn’t it? It’s a casting gig made in heaven!

I'm never going to be able to watch Flash Gordon the same way again.

If not for the color distortion, more than just the two or three people who guessed this Macro Monday challenge photo correctly would likely have gotten it. I’m trying something new with a Character Edition. Can you guess this little...

It got a bit of a bad rap for being cheesy but I loved loved loved Flash Gordon and watched it 100 times. The soundtrack is actually really good as well.

I cherish the movie immensely despite the cheesiness.
