You might remember how I've lamented losing my favorite comic book of the last few years, Descender, to the winds of change (read: the story ran its course). Well, knowing it was coming to an end, I held off on reading the final two issues. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It was admitting the end was nigh.
Yesterday, I finally got around to reading issues 31 and 32. They were magnificent and a well-written denouement to the story I had grown to love dearly.
Or was it?
Let me clarify. It was well-written. But was it truly a denouement (ending)?
In the back of issue 32, I found this...
...along with a letter from writer Jeff Lemire describing how he realized that his intended ending needed a revision of the run of the comic. The decision being made that a sequel -- Ascender -- would occur, set 10 years in the future.
And now I cannot wait until 2019!!
Bring. It. On.
I guess I didn't need to worry. Damn.
