Kevism: Shame...

You ever get asked that question, “If you could have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would it be?” Who did you answer?

In all honesty, I’ve never been able to answer that question.

Until the other day, that is.

I was watching a documentary titled De Palma on Netflix all about writer/director Brian De Palma (Scarface, Untouchables) when he started talking about his longtime friendship with some pretty iconic names. That’s when this picture showed on screen...

From left, that’s Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, De Palma, George Lucas, and Francis Ford Coppola. The Murderer’s Row of Hollywood directorial royalty. I always knew they were all friends, but I’ve never seen a photo of all of them together.

I can now answer that question. This is who I want to have dinner with. All five of them. And I don’t even have to speak. I just want to listen to them tell stories. The whole time.

Oh, and drink wine. I hear Coppola can make that last one happen pretty readily

I also want to know what’s up with Lucas’ tie. I want one.

Yeah, I could go with that 5 very easily. I'd have to give it thought. Mine changes every time I get asked the question. Right now, I'm sure Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan would be 2 of the 5. I always love seeing those two together.

Oh yeah, they would be cool, too.

Marty Mankins

They all ;look so young in that photo.

For my pick with dinner, I'd have to go with Quentin Tarantino. That would either be super quiet and somber or very active and chatty.

Or all of the above. At once.
