This morning before I started work, I went for a walk around the neighborhood. I knew it wouldn't be a long walk because it was really cold and it had snowed overnight, but I wanted to get some motion in before I spent the rest of the day sitting in front of my laptop.

Down the street from where we live is a relatively empty plot of land right next to an industrial park. The plot of land had a fairly old house on it with a shed and a large cement silo. At one point in time, it was a working farm (hence the silo), but the owners sold most of the land to the industrial park and just lived on the remainder of the land in the house. A year or so ago, the house burned to the ground. It was a pretty big deal in our area because of its proximity to the industrial park, a grove of large trees, and the Metra rail line. All that remains is the silo and the shed.

I've driven by what was left of the property many times since the fire as it is right near my house. I've always wondered what was going on back there but never checked it out.

So that's where I went on my walk. And I took a handful of photos. Enjoy!
