And, with the click of a button in an email, our summer cruise is 100% canceled. 

I wish I could focus on the cool stuff that happened today, like Falcon 9 successfully going to space and whatever else. But I cannot.

NATHAN FINALLY LEARNED TO RIDE HIS BIKE!! 

If this were any other year, this coming weekend would be marked with several trips to our local pool of which we’ve been members for four or five years now. 

I'm going to be honest, I have not been a space exploration nut since I was a kid. I used to love shuttle launches and I even saw Sally Ride's first launch live. I had toy space shuttles and posters and postcards and photographs in my room until my teen years.

I remember a joke I've heard several times over the course of my life that goes something akin to "What's the one profession where you can miss 7 out of 10 times and still be considered an all star? A baseball player."

Like anybody else, we had plans for the long weekend. But we actually got some of it done!

Apparently, on this day eight years ago, I was really into doing Halftone cartoons featuring a LEGO Gollum. Can’t imagine why. Especially since I’ve barely even looked at it since that time. Weird. 

I’m one step closer to actually learning that TikTok dance and crossing another square off my social distancing bingo card. Yup, I actually signed up for a TikTok account.

A little while ago, one of Katie’s many many cousins asked if we wanted to take part in a quarantine birthday video for her daughter Ellie’s 10th birthday.

That’s a kid of twenties in that title, ain’t it, folks? Almost halfway through the year. Unfortunately, though, last week’s challenge photo didn’t garner any guesses. 

I love how these horizon tape lines, and the sudden turn, remind me of Lightcycle trails from TRON.

I know I said that Nathan was doing really great with riding a bike. He is! Truly! But everyone can have a bad day, right?

I can't believe it's been five weeks since I did my first one of these COVID Diary posts. I guess I really haven't had much to say. Or maybe I have, but it's just too damned depressing. I'll try to keep it light.

I realized something today as I went to pick up groceries, my gas tank is just above a quarter full. I may have to refill soon. For the first time in two months. I wonder if I still know how... 

A little while ago, a friend asked me if I was still skilled in the art of website design. This person, I'm certain, was looking for help in the day and age of Coronavirus cutbacks... she had lost her job and I'm guessing she was either looking to start an online consultancy in her field of expertise or just a site for self marketing.

I've been doing some wheeling and dealing online lately to get some cassettes I want. I finally negotiated a deal for one of my white whale tapes and was waiting for the woman on the other end to send it to me.

Happy Mother’s Day, y’all! There are many moms in my life and they’re all important to me and I hope you had a great day. But I do need to call out one in particular...

For his birthday last year, a friend gave Nathan a toy rocket. It’s not like the old dry fuel rockets I played with as a kid. More like a rocket jet with a tail propeller attached to a USB-charged motor.

Remember me saying I was likely going to pay for that 4.5 mile walk I took yesterday? Well, it didn't happen right away, but it did happen. The pain reared its ugly head after I took a second 4.5 mile walk in as many days.

I went for a 4.5 mile walk this morning. Got up early and just headed out with an audiobook pumping in my ear. 

If I’ve discovered one thing from quarantining, it’s that I’m really happy I didn’t become a professional teacher. I have enough trouble legitimately educating one kid let alone 20-30 of them. 

I’m looking for a new audiobook. I love music and music history. Can you see where this is going?
