While digging around for a backup lightning charging cable to use in the kitchen, I found something unexpected.
In the center console of my car, in a bag of mixed cables I don’t use anymore, was my old second generation iPod Shuffle... the clip variety!
It’s in near-perfect condition. Although it hasn’t been used in years, so the battery was definitely dead. But that didn’t quash my curiosity one iota.
After thinking about it for a while, I decided to check my big Craftsman tool chest and that’s where I found the original dock charger.
These iPod Shuffles were always unique because of how they charged. Instead of a dock or lightning or mini/micro USB, it charged through the 1/8” stereo headphone jack. And generation 2 had it all built into a mini dock that you can see in the photo above.
It’s charging now so I’ll check back in with what’s on it in the near future.
This could be fun.
Or it could really suck rocks.
