Libroqueue 2020.07...
I was about to preface this post by saying it might be the final Libroqueue post of 2020, but, now that I think about it, it may not be. We'll have to wait and see how hard up I get for content this holiday break.
Anyway, shall we see how I'm progressing with my reading goal for December? It was a hefty one at seven with an option for an eighth book. Here's the list...
- Mark Andrew Smith’s Sullivan’s Sluggers
- Al Ewing’s The Immortal Hulk, book 2 (which contains volumes 3 & 4)
- Sean Murphy’s Batman: Curse of the White Knight
- Marc Levy's The Last of the Stanfields
- Harold Schechter's Hell's Princess: The Mystery of Belle Gunness, Butcher of Men
- Charles Cross’ Room Full of Mirrors: A Biography of Jimi Hendrix
- Various Authors' From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back
- Grady Hendrix’s My Best Friend’s Exorcism
The optional eighth is that final one, My Best Friend's Exorcism, and it was going to be determined by whether or not Overdrive delivered me a library copy. Well, they did. So it's an eight-book goal.
So far, I have finished:
- Sean Murphy’s Batman: Curse of the White Knight
- Harold Schechter's Hell's Princess: The Mystery of Belle Gunness, Butcher of Men
- Various Authors' From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back
I am partway through:
- (70%) Al Ewing’s The Immortal Hulk, book 2
- (27%) Marc Levy's The Last of the Stanfields
- (74%) Charles Cross’ Room Full of Mirrors: A Biography of Jimi Hendrix
- (35%) Grady Hendrix’s My Best Friend’s Exorcism
I have yet to start:
- Mark Andrew Smith’s Sullivan’s Sluggers
I don't see an issue finishing Hulk, Hendrix, and Hendrix (I just now realized I was reading a book about Jimi Hendrix at the same time I'm reading a book written by Grady Hendrix... what are the odds?). I also think I can tear through Sluggers pretty quickly. Stanfields, though, may not happen. I'll try, but if I really want to finish the others, I need to hunker down and get reading.
I think I'm dividing my attention across too many different books and formats at one time. Gotta focus more. And it's also getting tougher to do audiobooks without my weekday commute.
As for next year, I think I'm going to maintain my 48-book reading goal. Four per month seems really doable. I think I'd like to also add a goal in terms of trying to get through a series of books. I just haven't decided which yet. Any suggestions? Y'all see what I read.
