How often do you find yourself watching something that you know is gonna be bad, that just reeks of pure camp going in, yet, for some odd reason, you wind up loving it anyway?

That was Prime’s Tomorrow War for me.

Katie and I started watching it tonight and I delayed writing this post until I could get it all finished. That happened at about 2 a.m. and then I was too tired to write. So forgive the lateness of this.

Basically, next year, during a World Cup soccer game, a portal opens up…

…and soldiers come through it claiming to be from the year 2051 and they have been at war with an alien species for a few years and are losing.

If the other end of this portal doesn’t send citizens to fight and to conduct scientific research, the human species will cease to exist.

About a year into the consequent conscription, Dan Forester (Chris Pratt), a former soldier and current high school science teacher, is chosen to serve his one-week tour of duty and, as expected, all hell breaks loose.

Yes, it was campy. Yes, it was predictable. Yes, it is the sort of thing I’d regularly ridicule. But, for some reason, it hit me at the right time and in the right mood and I enjoyed the heck out of it.

It didn’t hurt that it costarred Yvonne Strahovski of Chuck fame as a Colonel and scientist in the nearly human-free future.

As well as J.K. Simmons who is badass as always and I think is fantastic in everything.

Plus, the aliens — here known as “white spikes — are wicked cool and a lot of fun to watch.

Mix all that together and, well, I had fun. Much more fun than I’ve had with many of these straight-to-streaming films we’ve watched during the pandemic.

I will admit, though, that the timing of featuring a Miami skyline with a bunch of mostly destroyed buildings could’ve been better.

Have you seen it? Am I off my rocker on my assessment?

We discovered that we were lied to by whatever site it was that said we could use those 13-year-old forever passes we got at Disney World for our trip to Disneyland. I mean WTF! It's on the web, so it...

Okay, so I’m reusing a photo from Memorial Day. But it works very nicely to help commemorate the 245th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence from those British bastards (I keed! I keed!). Happy Independence, USA! 🇺🇸

It was fun to watch, but the many, many, many senseless logic gaps made me cringe for most of it.

Logic was not a strong point. But still fun with your brain turned off.
