Dungeons…
…Dungeons… and more dungeons!!
Tonight, Nathan and I joined my brother, his elder daughter (a year older than Nate) and two of my brother’s old friends for a quick Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
It was Nate’s and my first time playing since the summer when we worked on campaigns twice through our park district.
It was a lot of fun but kinda hard to keep on track when you’ve got two adults who are militaristic in their seriousness about playing, two adults who really have no clue what they’re doing, and two kids who are probably better at it than most but still have the attention spans of 11 and 12 year olds.
The really cool thing was that, unlike the park district campaigns, we used figurines and a playing board and other visual elements. I haven’t done that since high school when I played Boot Hill, a Wild West tabletop game. The DM tonight actually gifted the playing board to my brother since he had an extra.
We’re going to try to make it a regular thing. Maybe monthly. I’m sure Katie and the SiL won’t have a problem with it. They’ll just go to the theater for a double feature like they did tonight.
Geeks rule.
