Libroqueue 2024.02…
I think keeping a goal of no more than five books a month is going to be the best way to move forward with my monthly reading goal.

Today marks eight months since I’ve had a soda.
I received (actually, Katie received) a postcard in the mail with a big heading on the front, “Katie, You’re Invited” accompanied by images of cruise ships from and logos for Carnival, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean.
Aside from my lingering cough, we’re all good and have been for about 24 hours now. Yay!
So how do Nathan and I spend our Boy’s Day while Katie I at work on a weekend?
Oh man, was I jazzed tonight!
Last weekend, I did an action figure re-creation of this cover of Jason Aaron’s Marvel Star Wars #14.
I popped open Feedly today to catch up on some blog and other RSS-fed reading. I was shocked to discover I had 238 posts waiting for me.
This makes me happy. Very happy.
This is so weird… I wrote a blog post and accidentally published it twice.

Nathan was honored tonight by our local Board of Education for a community service project he and several of his fellow student council members did this past November. They adopted a mile of road in our town and cleaned it up!
I want a Lions v Bills Super Bowl.
This is Brittany Pietsch and she was just laid off from CloudFlare.
You may be a really big Star Wars fan when autocorrect on your iPhone tries to change your name to that of a Star Wars character. And not even a very well known one at that.
Apparently you can overload a breadmaker.
On many Thursdays, we use a breadmaker to mix and cure a recipe to mix dough for pizza crust to be used on Fridays for our family pizza night.
What have I been reading? What exactly have I been reading? Well despite the 72 books I read in 2023, I really didn’t read as many books that were published in 2023 as I would have thought.

It’s become very easy to tell when Katie is about to head home from work this winter. How?

Nathan’s second eLearning Day (nee “Snow Day”) is going to be happening tomorrow “due to dangerous temperatures at or below negative 30 degrees.”
There’s nothing quite like a -13°F with wind chill day to make you want to stay inside… and do a project around the house.
My god! All the noises our house is making right now due to the extreme cold outside, you’d swear it’s going to fall apart with us inside.
For once, they weren’t lying about the snow…
In anticipation of the seeming mother of all storms about to hit us here in the west end of the Great Lakes, Nathan was sent home from school with everything he should need for a remote learning day.
I actually went back to the gym today.
For the first time since maybe a week before Thanksgiving.
I suppose if you were looking for a nail to drive into the coffin that is Catholicism, then for me it’s Pope Francis’ denouncement of surrogate motherhood and request for a global ban on the practice.

Gotta admit Katie and I are really enjoying The Diplomat on Netflix starring Keri Russell, Ato Essandoh, and Rufus Sewell.

One week into 2024 and I present to you Kevin’s 7: Audio ’23. This is never an easy list for me because I listen to so much music during the year and then I get tired of some of it and others move in only to be replaced or jumbled up again when I give my top albums a final listen or two at the end of the year. I make this so much harder than it needs to be.

One of Nate’s Christmas gifts from Santa was a Blu-ray/DVD copy of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. It was primarily gifted because it had a digital copy code included. That’s how Nate watches movies primarily… his iPad. The disc does him no good.
My boss at work keeps a resourcing calendar for all her charges. She wants to see, broken down on a monthly basis, how much each person is working on (or requested for work).
This is officially the first time I've ever not written all my Kevin's 7 year-in-review posts during the month of December so I could actually include anything that I discovered late in the game. Kinda nice, but my motivation to do this is shot as a result. But it NEEDS to be done! So let's get it done!

Considering I was in first place either solo or tied for the entire season save for one week when I was in second place, the fact that I finished the fantasy football season at work in seventh place really sucks rocks.
Returning to work after a holiday is rough. You get a little lazy. You forget what schedules are about. Maybe you even turned off your work email and Slack notifications.
