Happy Mardi Gras, y’all! With today comes two things (if you’re not in New Orleans proper)… pączki and the fact that tomorrow is the first day of Lent.

Drool first…

Then realize something else second…

Most people, in celebration of Lent give up sweets, candy, processed sugar, pastries, or the like for the 40 days leading up to Easter Sunday. That abstinence starts tonight at midnight.

Something else starts tonight at midnight, Valentine’s Day. So if you plan to give/receive candy of some sort to/from your sweetheart and you/they honor Lent by giving up sweets, candy, processed sugar, pastries, or the like, you’d damn well better start celebrating Winged Cherub with Bow and Heart-Shaped Arrows Day right this flipping second or that candy is sitting around for 40 days and nights.

And you’re welcome.
