Spielberg…

Tonight, Nathan actually acquiesced (without much cajoling, mind you) to watching E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial with us! He’d seen it before a few years ago and hated it. Absolutely hated it. He always claimed that E.T’s guttural whine freaked him out.

I mean, yeah, the scream is funky but it’s supposed to be. It’s a defense mechanism. But the rest of the movie is so good that we took to teasing him about his fear. I even do a fair job of impersonating the scream so that made the teasing even more fun.

Despite all this, he finally said yes to watching it again.

Admittedly, a lot of it had to do with the fact that he’s doing a research project on Steven Spielberg at school and how can you do that without covering E.T., right?

We’re also watching Jaws and Ready Player One. Not sure if he’d be ready for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Not that it’s particularly scary. But those aliens haunted me for years. Still do.

That is great he finally watched E.T. It's such a great movie. I saw it in theaters opening weekend. It's been at least 10 years since I last watched it (I have it on DVD)

Thankfully it was a reverted copy with guns not walkies.
