TTPD…
I did something today that I have not done since 2008 or 09 when i listened to her album Fearless…
…I listened to a Taylor Swift album from end to end. It was her eagerly awaited single-turned-double-album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I turned against the woman since Fearless came out. I just never felt the need to actively listen to the eight albums she’s released in the interim because I kept hearing tracks on the radio and in randomized Spotify queues or on Muzak or in TV shows or movies or wherever else. I didn’t need to actively listen because no matter where I was or what I was doing, the world made sure I was passively listening.
But the bug bit me about the time we went to see the Eras Tour film in theaters last year and when my wife started playing various Taylor playlists non-stop in the car. I was on board again… actively. So when the new album dropped, I was there.
Well, I was there this morning at the gym. Not at 2 am with the real Swifties. Let’s be reasonable here.
It’s good. Really good. She may be seeing herself break into my K7. But I will have to listen some more first.
It's only a matter of time before the kiddo wants to listen to this, so maybe tonight I'll get to see how it is. I suspect, based on your review, that early doom and gloom reports of Swift Fatigue are way overblown.

I think she’s allowed to put out something a bit different but that is still definitively “her.” The criticisms do seem rather pointed.

I am still Swift album free here. Not because I don't like her music. I just haven't had an interest. I might just have to make it happen.

It’s a unique experience.
