Libroqueue 2024.07…
I had a good month with reading. Started strong, slowed down but remained consistent in the middle, and finished relatively well.

At the pool today, Nathan and I were playing catch and I heard two tween girls near us gauging the level of their friendship with questions about each other’s favorite this and that. Favorite movie, band, chip, etc.
So I was taking a look for the first time at a graphic novel I picked up for $1 at my library. It was worked on by two brothers I really like named Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon as well as another great comic veteran in Becky Cloonan and I think just seeing their names on it was what sold me on picking it up blindly. And that it was only a dollar.
Nothing like being the last ones to leave a theater at closing time. Yeah, we did that tonight when Katie and I went to see The Fall Guy with my brother and his wife.
Eddie and Dustin are finally done! This one took a little longer than expected. But once we hunkered down and focused, we got it.

I was recently introduced to a cool feature on the History.com website called This Day in History that allows you view events of historical significance that happened either on the current date or on a date of your choosing.
Yesterday, the three of us went to the Eras Night (Cougars Edition) at Northwestern Medicine Field. No, it was not a Taylor Swift concert. But it was a Taylor Swift-themed night at the ballpark of our local minor league baseball team, the Kane County Cougars.

Katie and I were always fans of The Big Bang Theory. We watched it from start to finish and then on to the second finish (the additional two seasons that weren’t initially expected). It’s had its ups and downs but we really enjoyed it, generally speaking. And we even like to tune into the occasional rerun.
Turns out today is my 19th Blogiversary here on Typepad (26th year overall running some version of kapgar.com).
What would you choose?
Katie and I have spent the last couple of nights watching the U.S. Olympic Swim Team Trials on NBC. Being the Olympic junkies we are (hell, we named Nate after Olympic swimmer Nathan Adrian), we’re having fun watching and can’t wait for the Paris games to start up.
I woke up this morning and saw this on our kitchen table…

To be filed under “I’ve Really Got Nothing Better To Do” comes this gem of a fifty states breakdown of favorite “Dad Rock” bands.
Being an employee of a 100% remote company, I can technically work from anywhere I want… coffee shop, library, my car, Guatemala. As long as I have a secure Web connection, I’m golden.
I just had a dust up with a fellow toy collector about women and minorities and their representation in toy lines and I just can’t this was too much.

Let me introduce you to our one and only hanging plant this year…
And, just like that, we are done!

It’s been a couple months since we finished our last one, but we’re finally getting back in the puzzle game with one we bought for Katie for Mother’s Day…

I’m truly sorry this is coming so late in the game, but Happy Pride Month, y’all!
Well I finished the third of my five book goal for this month today!
In addition to the Hobie head I have to paint for Nate, I received a couple blank head prints from my toy photog buddy Charley that I’m looking forward to trying my hand at…

It’s been a long time since I took scenery shots that weren’t vacation related. For some reason, I decided to do just that last night in the car in the way home.
Time to start a project I promised to do for Nate nearly a year ago.
I totally forgot to celebrate my one year of sodabriety back on May 28! Get it? Soda + sobriety = sodabriety. If it wasn’t a thing before, it is now. Deal with it.

I am always 100% on board for new Alien lore. Not just any alien, but our big, black, acid-blooded, double-mouthed, elongated-skull xenomorph and her little face-hugging minions.
Nate was at a birthday party for a friend and they had a petting zoo in the backyard as part of the festivities.

We went to the library yesterday to sign up for the summer reading challenge. I walked up to the table and announced our intentions, she said hi, and then she started typing in her laptop.

Another month, some other goals met. Let’s check them out, shall we?
