Universal…

Apparently at some point in the past, I signed up for Universal All-Access Rewards. It likely happened when registering for a free digital copy of a movie.

Today I received an email that the program is dying and I need to cash in my points.

I knew I couldn’t possibly have many points but I decided to check out what was available anyway. I must’ve had a pitiful amount because the options available to me blew chunks…

This can’t be real, can it? Hard Pass

IMG_7518

Tony Goldwyn, Sharon Stone, Ellen Burstyn, and Famke Janssen would sound decent if the trailer weren’t so god awful. Pass

IMG_7519

David Letterman or not, I can’t imagine having to explain having a title like that in my digital library. Pass

I hated this when I saw it when it was first released and it was no better five years ago when Nate wanted to watch it. But at least I’ve heard of it. Pass

IMG_7521

I was aware of the original movie starring Frankie Muniz and Amanda Bynes but never wanted to watch it. So why own, let alone even watch a sequel to it I never knew existed? Hard Pass

Trying to cash in on the LEGO films with possibly the dumbest concept possible and you cast Cher and Jennifer Coolidge in the lead roles? Some might like it but not me. Hardest Pass Ever

This is an animated film about a girl separated from her family by the Taliban in Afghanistan. I… actually am intrigued. Might Be  A Win

A documentary about a Motorsport team and its primary driver and the grueling training they go through? I’m not much a fan of racing of any sort but I do like insightful documentaries. Sadly, though, documentary intrigue and quality have taken a huge hit in the last 15-odd years. Not sure I’m willing to risk it, but it is free. Might Be A Win

Hmmmm… The Breadwinner or Born Racer? The first has a 7.7/10 with 28,475 votes and some seriously decent reviews on IMDb and the second has 6.2/10 with only 292 votes and two reviews. The first is executive produced by Angelina Jolie for what it’s worth. The second has no one I’ve ever heard of before. The first was also an Oscar nominee.

So Bigger Fatter Liar it is!

I keed! I keed!

The Breadwinner wins.

Those are some pretty pitiful choices right there.

Turns out when you select one from that list, they send you a code to use in MoviesAnywhere that takes you to a list about four times as long. Although a vast majority of those are just as bad. I did wind up going for a Blumhouse horror film instead called Sweetheart. I like bad horror.

That list... ugh!! The Breadwinner was the best choice.

I wound up going a different route. Turned out when you picked your movie, they simply email you a code that takes you to another page with far more films to choose from. A vast majority of those sucked as well but I went with a Blumhouse horror film I’d never heard of with one of the young stars of Monarch from Apple TV+.
