Stephen…
U.S. Men’s Gymnastics Team Pommel Horse champion Stephen Nedoroscik is clearly my hero of these Olympic Games.
The dude was brought in just to help the squad with the pommel horse, both team and individual, an event in which we’ve never fared well, and he did exactly what he was supposed to do… win. He took bronze in the individual and helped the team take bronze overall. They haven’t medaled in 16 years.
He's got that geek charm. He’s scrawny but built. He removes his glasses and performs without clear vision creating a Superman mystique.
Best of all, to relax and focus before events, he solves Rubik’s Cubes.
Not slow like me, though. He’s a speed cuber regularly solving in the low teens in number of seconds and, just before his final individual performance of the Olympics, in under 10 seconds.
This dude is the epitome of cool.
Stephen, count me as a fan. Congratulations.
