Sunny…

I started watching this new Apple TV+ series titled Sunny. I’d never heard of it before seeing it listed on the Home Screen just now. It stars Rashida Jones of Parks & Recreation as a wife and mother living in a near-future, yet oddly old-fashioned, Japan dealing with the aftermath of the “death” of her husband and son in a plane crash.

I put quotes around “death” because their bodies haven’t been found and apparently discovering what happened to them is a central plot point, although I’m only one episode in and don’t officially know that.

Anyway, her husband works for a robotics manufacturer and one of what the company markets as a “Homebot” — an AI-operated monstrosity of a robot — is given to her by the company’s CEO to help her deal with her grief. It’s kinda like Ron’s Gone Wrong except she wants nothing to do with the thing.

I’m really curious to see how this plays out. I’ve always liked Rashida Jones and will always give her work a shot so I hope it pays off. I think six or seven episodes have been released on the streamer.

Are you watching it? Opinions?
